  1. For HPCA last night Gesell and Britton pitched the 5 inning game. Wilkinson was 3/4 with 4 rbi’s, Fischvogt 2/4 3 runs scored, Lawson 2/3 and Sari was 1/4. Cougars play at home Thursday and Saturday then leave for Myrtle Beach to play in the Mingo Bay Classic next week.

  2. Not to be lost in HPC’s 2-1 loss was another complete game by John Furr. In 3 starts he’s within one pitch of 3 complete games. First a 6 2/3 inning game in a 2-1 loss at Dudley. And in his last 2 outings, a complete game 2-1 victory at Page and last nights complete game 2-1 loss to East Forsyth.
Also had a 2 inning scoreless relief appearance versus Ledford.

  3. Cougar,
This isn’t High Point sports, it’s Greensboro sports. I’m not sure you guys are the best team in HP!

  4. @ Gypsie Mike….You really need to get a job and don’t worry your little mindless self about a kids game. Clearly you have no class. This is an open forum we all thought to prop up the kids across the area. @ Bison dad, yes, John Furr has pitched well this year. I don’t know him personally but my son does and I hear he’s a good young man. I wish HPC a good season.

  5. I saw John Furr pitch against Page and he is a good one, he is legit…

I think that night it was Furr and HPC vs. Page and Will Hardin and HPC won it 2-1 if I remember correctly…

HP Central is not a bad team…The Furr kid and Giles who is the kid up near the top of order those kids and others too can play…HP Central has lost some close games….

Page has three kids that are pretty good pitchers in Will Hardin, Carter Payne and Kevin Westlake and that is the order in which they threw last night vs. Grimsley…

  6. Cougar,
Thanks and good luck to HPCA. A good group of young men. Know the seniors very well.

    Andy,
Thank you for all you do for Triad sports and the student athletes you cover. Greg Johnson started me on this site. He would be proud of the work you continue to do and his son Will.

  7. If anything we do can keep the memory of Greg Johnson alive, I am all for that…We think about Will and Taylor Johnson every day and I can tell you, the memory of Greg Johnson Lives on here….

    Thanks…

I do not know the current HP Central coach, Coach Harper, but Coach Morgan changed the culture of that Bison program and got those kids thinking baseball as a Winning sport….

  8. John Furr is one of those names a lot of people on this website may not know. I can personally say John is a great athlete and deserves more notoriety than he gets. He is one of the few athletes in high school that still participates in 3 school sports. John has pitched his tail off for last several years. Coach Harper over there at HPC is great coach and even better person and has done a great job will continue do a great job. Good luck.

  9. Scott,

Thanks for the kind words about John and Coach Harper. Hope your season ends in a Championship.
