Elon’s Badmaev Named CAA Women’s Golfer of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University women’s golf junior Kelsey Badmaev has been named the CAA Women’s Golfer of the Week today, March 23, as announced by the league office.

The native of Blythewood, S.C. earned her first CAA weekly honor of the season and the third of her career after claiming the individual title and helping Elon to a share of the team title at the MSU Citrus Challenge, March 20-22. Badmaev carded a two-under 214 (72-70-72) on the par-72 courses the Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla. It was the second individual title of Badmaev’s career and her first since September 2015.

Her second round total of 70 (-2), and the second round low for the day, moved her from fifth to first in the standings. The 54-hole total of 214 is the fourth-lowest by an Elon individual during the program’s Division I era. Elon shared the team title with James Madison and Western Kentucky.

Badmaev and the Phoenix returns to action, March 27-29, at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate in Atlanta.
