2016 Farm Bureau Baseball Invitational Tournament at Grasshoppers’ NewBridge Bank Park

The Farm Bureau Baseball Invitational at NewBridge Bank Park will be held on March 30th , 31st , and April 1st. This will be the 5th year of this event and 2nd year with Farm Bureau as the Title Sponsor.

Having a title sponsor has enabled us to give a thousand dollar scholarship to a player on each team in last years’ finals and a 500 dollar scholarship to a player on each of the losing semi-finalist teams. This will be done again this year.

Please come out and see some of the top teams in the area as we have a very competitive field this year.

The teams were seeded according to last years’ overall winning percentage. We will have 4 games daily and admission price is $5.00 for the day. The Tournament proceeds will be shared among all the schools participating.

Day One Matchups on Wednesday March 30….

  1. Why so many teams outside the area? We’re Guilford County teams invited? I hear they were not.

  2. I know 4 of the Guilford County teams are in a Easter Tournament together. Northeast, Dudley, Southern, and Eastern Guilford are in a tournament held at Northeast this year. All 4 teams have good records and are very solid teams.

  3. A few years back Dudley, Page and Grimsley were all involved with this event. Despite each school selling tickets for the grasshoppers’ the Grasshoppers stated that they were not making any profit from it and decided to discontinue it.

  4. @bbfan If the Grasshoppers “decided to discontinue it,” how is the tournament in its fifth year?

The Hoppers aren’t officially sponsoring it anymore, but Farm Bureau is and is awarding scholarships. Heard a number of Guilford schools were approached about it, but said they were already committed elsewhere. Some prefer “beach trips” to staying home. That’s always going to be an issue during spring break.

  5. Surprised Grimsley isn’t playing in the tourney this year. They have played in it the past few years.
