College Baseball Final – Emory & Henry 5, Guilford 3

EMORY, Va. – Gavin Felty fanned seven in a complete-game six-hitter to lead Emory & Henry College past visiting Guilford College Tuesday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball action.

Felty (4-1) yielded only a third-inning home run to Guilford junior Joe Metts that spotted the Quakers a 3-0 lead. He threw 119 pitches and walked just one.

He received offensive support from Carson Bryant and Holden Watkins, who had two hits apiece. After Brandon Lineberry’s fourth-inning, solo home run, Watkins delivered a game-tying, two-run double in the sixth. Emory & Henry (8-22, 4-9 ODAC) took the lead on Hunter Jeffries’ squeeze bunt with runners at the corners. Bryant scored an unearned run in the seventh off of Guilford reliever John Todd.

Metts had two of Guilford’s six hits, including a double and his second homer of the season. Chuck Noble also had two hits. Darin Salter (0-2) pitched into the seventh inning and scattered eight hits and a walk. He struck out four.
