College Men’s Golf Results – Guilford Fifth aft 18 Holes of Emory Invitational

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Guilford College’s men’s golf team shot 299 in Sunday’s opening round at the 13-team Emory Spring Invitational Sunday.

The Quakers sit five strokes behind leaders Oglethorpe University, Huntingdon College, and tournament host Emory University, all of whom shot 294. Rhodes College shot 296 and sits in fourth place, three strokes in front of Guilford and Transylvania University.

Huntingdon’s Addison Lambeth, a Greensboro, North Carolina resident, has a three-shot lead in the 80-man field after blistering the par-70 Smoke Rise Country Club with a three-under 67. Emory’s Connor Yakubov and Spalding University’s Jonathon Gandia both shot even-par 70 and share second place.

Guilford rookie Tommy Schick shot 73 to lead the Quakers’ contingent. He shares 10th place on the individual leaderboard. Sophomore Salah Sayess (Statesville, N.C./Forsyth Country Day) turned in a 74 and is tied for 18th place, two strokes ahead of teammates Ty Palmer (Kernersville, N.C./Forsyth Country Day) and Josh Hill. Freshman Justin Perdue shot 80. Guilford senior Aaron Abts (Winston-Salem, N.C./UNC Pembroke), playing as an individual, shot 75 and is in 21st place.

Coach Justin Tereshko’s Quakers conclude tournament play Monday in their final competition before the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships April 24-26.
