SAAC Food Drive

All Elon home events, Saturday, April 9 – Friday, April 15

• The Elon Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is hosting a food drive as part of the Colonial Athletic Association Food Drive Challenge from April 9 – April 15. All food items and gifts collected will go to Allied Churches of Alamance County.

• SAAC members will be on hand at all home events during the seven-day span to collect nonperishable food items and monetary donations. Bins will also be placed in Koury Athletic Center and Alumni Field House for donations at any time throughout the week.

Baseball (12-20, 4-7)

Elon vs. NC State, Tuesday, April 12, at 6:30 p.m., Latham Park

Elon vs. Towson, Friday – Sunday, April 15 – 17, at 6:30/4/1:30 p.m., Latham Park

• The Phoenix won 2-of-3 at Northeastern over the weekend. Saturday’s win was highlighted by Michael Elefante’s career-high 11 strikeouts in 8.0 innings as the Phoenix defeated the Huskies 2-0. It marked Elon’s first shutout since March 14, 2014.

• In Sunday’s 3-2, 10-inning win, both Jordan Barrett (eight) and Chris Hall (five) set new personal highs in strikeouts.

• Elon will play four games this week, beginning with a Tuesday night affair against a top-25 North Carolina State squad. The maroon and gold will then welcome in Towson for a three-game CAA series over the weekend.

Men’s Golf

Wolfpack Spring Open, Saturday – Sunday, April 16 – 17, Sunset, S.C.

• Elon closes out the regular season in Raleigh at the Wolfpack Spring Open at Lonnie Poole Golf Club.

• The Phoenix has earned a top-10 finish in all eight of its tournaments this season, including two top-five finishes.

• Following the Wolfpack Spring Open, the maroon and gold will compete in the 2016 CAA Championships, April 22 – 24, at the St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C.

Men’s Tennis (15-5)

Elon vs. East Carolina, Saturday, April 16, 1 p.m., Jimmy Powell Tennis Center

• The Phoenix bounced back from a loss to College of Charleston on Wednesday to earn a 6-1 victory over Furman on Sunday.

• Felipe Sarrasague clinched Elon’s victory against the Paladins. The freshman improved to 13-5 in singles play with his ninth-straight victory. His 13 singles wins is a team-high this season.

• The Phoenix closes out the regular season with its Senior Day matchup on Saturday, April 16, against East Carolina. The match at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center begins at 1 p.m.

Softball (21-17, 6-3)

Elon vs. UNCG, Wednesday, April 13, at 5 p.m., Hunt Softball Park

Elon at Towson, Saturday – Sunday, April 16 – 17, at 12/2/1 p.m., Towson, Md.

• The Phoenix hosts Triad rival UNCG in a single-game on Wednesday before heading to Towson for its first Colonial Athletic Association road series next weekend.

• Elon earned its second straight win at NC State last week with a 4-2 victory over the Wolfpack. The win was the Phoenix’s third against an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent in the past two seasons and its first consecutive victories over NC State since 2005.

• Freshman Erica Serafini was named the CAA Rookie of the Week last Monday for her first career weekly honor. The Tampa, Fla., native helped Elon to its second league series win against College of Charleston after batting .500 (4-for-8) in the series while scoring a team-high four runs with three RBI, a double and a home run. She also had a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base percentage.

Women’s Golf

CAA Women’s Golf Championships, Friday – Sunday, April 15 -17, Southport, N.C.

• The Phoenix finished third-place at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate marked the team’s seventh finish of third or better in nine tournaments this season. Elon looks to improve on its runner-up finish at last season’s 2015 CAA Championships at this year’s championship.

• Kelsey Badmaev has led the Phoenix this season individually with two tournament titles and two CAA Player of the Week honors.

• The maroon and gold has set a total of six Elon Division I era program records this season, which includes both individual and team records.

Women’s Lacrosse (8-3, 1-1)

Elon vs. James Madison, Friday, April 15, at 7 p.m., Rudd Field

• The Phoenix played its first overtime game in program history on Friday evening, edging Delaware, 5-4, to open conference play with a win. Shelby Scanlin notched the winning goal in the second half of the first overtime.

• The maroon and gold fell just short of knocking off its second ranked opponent of the season, falling to No. 17 Towson, 11-9, on Sunday. The Phoenix trailed by just one with under four minutes remaining but was not able to knock off the visiting Tigers.

• Elon plays its final home game of the season on Friday when it host preseason CAA favorite James Madison. The game against the Dukes also marks Senior Night for the program’s two seniors – Megan Griffin and Kelli Stack.

Women’s Tennis (12-9)

Elon at USC Upstate, Thursday, April 14, 2 p.m., Spartanburg, S.C.

• The Phoenix defeated East Carolina 4-3 in last week’s action.

• Olivia Lucas and Erica Braschi continued their strong play, picking up key singles wins to lead Elon to victory over ECU. Braschi clinched the match with her 10th straight singles win. Lucas picked up her sixth-straight singles victory at the No. 1 position.

• Elon hits the road to face USC Upstate on Thursday, April 14, for its regular season finale before the CAA Championships. The match begins at 2 p.m.

Women’s Track and Field

Elon at Campbell Invitational, Friday – Saturday, April 15 – 16, Buies Creek, N.C.

• Elon heads to Buies Creek, N.C., for the Campbell Invitational next weekend, April 15 – 16.

• The Phoenix last competed at the Aggie Invitational on Saturday, April 9, at North Carolina A&T. The Phoenix won five event titles at the meet.

• Junior Briana O’Grady set a new personal-record in the hammer throw as the South Kingstown, R.I., native had a toss of 157′ 4″ (47.97m) to win the event for the Phoenix. The junior also moved up to fourth all-time on the program’s performance list.
