HPU Men’s Golf: Menard finishes one over par at Coca-Cola Invite

• Emile Menard led the Panthers with a combined score 217 to finish tied for 23rd.
• The Purple & White recorded a combined 884 to finish in 14th place.
• The HPU men will return to action April 17-19 at the Big South Championship.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Sophomore Emile Menard led the High Point University men’s golf team on final day action by notching an even-par 72 to finish off the tournament tied for 23rd place with a combined score of 217 (72-73-72, +1).

Menard was tied for fifth in par-four scoring (3.97, -1) and tied for eighth in par-five scoring (4.58, -5). The Ange-Gardien, Quebec native also recorded 28 pars and 14 birdies during his 54-hole tour.

“Emile Menard had a great tournament finishing one-over par, he continued to play well throughout the 54-holes and played strong,” said head coach Greg Flesher. “Overall the guys hit the ball very well and I am impressed with our performance in the final round.”

Senior McKay Tye wrapped up his last regular season tournament with a third round score of 76. Tye posted 25 pars and 13 birdies to finish tied for 34th with a combined score of 220 (72-72-76, 4).

Christian Casingal, a freshman, matched Tye with a final round score of 76. The freshman finished the tournament tied for 52nd with a score of 223 (75-72-76).

Redshirt-sophomore AJ Hopkins improved by two strokes in third round action to post a final score of 224 (72-77-75). Hopkins recorded 34 pars and seven birdies to finish tied for 58th.

Davis Kiger, a freshman, carded 26 pars to finish 87th with a combined score of 240.

HPU finished 14th overall at the event with a three round-combined score of 884 (291-294-299). Big South competitor Gardner-Webb took the tournament title posting a combined score of 847 (283-281-283) followed by host Wofford College (852) and Army West Point (855).

The Panthers will return to action on April 17-19 at the Big South Championship in Ninety-Six, S.C.
