SOUTHPORT, N.C. – The Elon University women’s golf team fell two spots to fourth overall and trail by six strokes after the second round of the 2016 CAA Women’s Golf Championships at the St. James Plantation Reserve Club.
Elon finished the second day with a 318 (+30) stroke total and is six back of the leaders Delaware heading into the final round on Sunday. The Blue Hens finished with a 298 (+10) on day two to surge from fourth to first on the leaderboard.
HIGHLIGHTS
Kelsey Badmaev led the way for the Phoenix with a team-low round of 77 (+5) on the second day of action, moving into the top-10 individually. Heather Munro had the next best round for Elon with a 79 (+7) and is tied for 11th individually with a 156 (+15) two-day total.
Emily Brooks remains in the highest position among Elon competitors and is in a tie for seventh individually with a two-round total of 155 (+11). She is seven strokes back from the leaders Andrea Slane of Delaware and Alessandra Liu of William & Mary.
In addition for the Phoenix, Sunna Vidisdottir improved her first round score by six strokes, shooting an 80 (+8) on day two. She is tied for 31st individually. Aurelia Hamm is tied for 13th individually with a two round total of 160 (+16).
UP NEXT
The final round of the CAA Women’s Golf Championships begins tomorrow 8 a.m. at the St. James Plantation Reserve Club. Vidisdottir will be the first to tee off for the Phoenix at 8 a.m. in Group One.
