CONWAY, S.C. – The High Point University baseball team fell at #15 Coastal Carolina by a score of 4-0 in the series finale on Monday afternoon in Conway, S.C. Senior Dominic Fazio had two hits and a double in the loss.

“You have to give Andrew Beckwith a lot of credit, he was very good,” head coach Craig Cozart said. “That being said, I was still disappointed that we couldn’t figure out a way to generate some offense. I truly thought when we won on Friday that we would figure out a way to win the series so this one was tough.”

Freshman Andrew Gottfried allowed four earned runs in 5-1/3 innings and dropped to 4-3 on the season. The right-hander allowed five hits and four walks and struck out four.

Andrew Beckwith pitched seven scoreless innings for Coastal Carolina and improved to 7-1 on the season. Beckwith allowed just four hits while striking out seven.

High Point drops to 26-15 overall and 9-6 in the Big South with the loss while CCU improves to 31-11 overall and 13-2 in conference play.

Coastal Carolina took a one-run lead in the second inning with a solo home run by Conner Owings, his second of the series. The Chanticleers then added two runs on a bases-loaded single by Billy Cooke in the fourth to extend the lead to 3-0.

CCU tacked on a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Seth Lancaster to bring the final score to 4-0.
