*****From the Winston-Salem Journal at www.journalnow.com on-line and this on the Piedmont Triad 4-A Softball Tournament*****
In the Piedmont Triad 4-A, softball semifinals were to have been played at Southwest Guilford at 4 p.m. Friday, and the championship was supposed to be later Friday night. The conference saw the field at Southwest and determined it was not going to play.

“I understand through all of the text messages that there wasn’t a facility that was playable,” Marty Stanley, conference co-commissioner, said. “Unfortunately, they had to cancel it.”

Northwest Guilford will be the top seed from the conference in next week’s state playoffs, and Glenn will be the No. 2.

“If it would’ve stopped (Thursday) afternoon, I think they could (have played),” Stanley said. “But it rained so much (Thursday) night that it was almost impossible to get the fields playable.”
