Eastern Alamance third-inning burst enough to top Western Alamance, 12-4

Eastern Alamance beat Western Alamance 12-4 in seven innings on Thursday at Stoner White after a seven-run explosion in the third inning. Eastern Alamance scored in the third on a two-run triple by Bryce Mitchell, an error, a two-run double by Luke Brown, an RBI double by Will Austin, and a passed ball. Mitchell had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. Jackson Hartley struck out nine, paving the way for a Eastern Alamance win. Hartley allowed one earned run on two hits and three walks over six innings. Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell and Austin helped lead Eastern Alamance. They combined for six hits and three RBIs. Chris Carione ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out three. Western Alamance jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Western Alamance’s rally started when Austin Rainey doubled. Western Alamance added more runs when Roy scored on an RBI double by Rainey and Rainey scored on an error. Eastern Alamance piled on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A clutch bases loaded walk scored Mitchell to open the scoring in the frame.

Northeast Guilford lost 15-3 to Southwest Guilford on Thursday at Stoner White, despite a total of five hits.

Wyatt Marini baffled Southwest Guilford, striking out eight batters. Marini allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks over four innings. Sean McIntosh got the win for Southwest Guilford. He allowed three runs over four innings. McIntosh struck out seven, walked two and gave up four hits. Southwest Guilford was sparked by Tommy Zente and Mason Chu, who teamed up for six hits and three RBIs. Juan Ramirez-Flores couldn’t get it done on the bump for Northeast Guilford, taking a loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs. The top of the first saw Southwest Guilford take an early lead, 2-0. Southwest Guilford’s rally started when Colin Busick singled. Southwest Guilford added more runs when Chu scored on a groundout by McIntosh. It didn’t take long for Northeast Guilford to respond as it scored three runs of its own in the third. Northeast Guilford scored on a bases loaded walk, a fielder’s choice, and an RBI single by Marini. Southwest Guilford never trailed after scoring three runs in the fifth on a fielder’s choice and an RBI single by Eli Mills. Southwest Guilford increased its lead with nine runs in the sixth. A bases loaded walk scored Zente to start the scoring in the inning.
