  1. Andy, there is a rumor that Nat Norris from High Point Andrews has resigned. Any truth to that? Why has Andrews not posted it? Is it true ?

  2. Without researching this, I would say it is probably true…He had been looking to get out for a while…He wants to follow his son’s career(Randy Jr.) at Winston-Salem State and that will be one of his main priorities next Spring….His brother died a while back and that has also changed his focus to more toward family and all in all, HP Andrews is a real tough place to coach baseball…Coach Norris’ kids put up some good offensive numbers and they were very fast and athletic, you could get an easy read on that by the number of bases that they would steal each year and the Red Raiders had some good batting averages too, against teams that they could compete against and there were NOT enough of those teams..

Pitching and defense were always a tough chore and it will be that way for a long time at Andrews..Not enough Andrews kids involved in youth baseball and if you have a decent pitcher, there is no defense to back him up…You are having to do much more teaching than you are coaching….And you want to be able to coach and you want to be able to use some strategy, but the only strategy that you can employ is pray Lord please get me out of this inning on defense…

Used to BE the same way for Dudley until more of their kids starting playing full time Summer baseball…
(Same way at Smith and a few other places right now.)

That is just my ten to twenty cents worth and I may be reading this all wrong, but that is my take….
