High Point Post 87 HiToms tops Winston-Salem in back-and-forth affair, 5-3
After five lead changes in Thursday’s game at Finch Field, High Point Post 87 HiToms finally pulled out a 5-3 win over Winston-Salem.
High Point Post 87 HiToms finally managed to grab the lead after a strong eighth inning. A two-run error scored Timmy Fischvogt and Luke Gessel and gave High Point Post 87 HiToms the lead for good.
Evan Edwards put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for High Point Post 87 HiToms. He doubled in the third inning and homered in the seventh inning.
Riley Isenhour recorded the win for High Point Post 87 HiToms. He allowed three runs over 8 2/3 innings. Isenhour struck out eight, walked one and gave up nine hits.
High Point Post 87 HiToms closer Dylan Wilkinson put away the final out to record the save.
The bottom of the third saw High Point Post 87 HiToms take an early lead, 1-0. High Point Post 87 HiToms got things going when Edwards doubled. Kip Brandenburg singled, plating Nick Goard.
