GREENSBORO, N.C. – – Executive Women’s Day presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, a popular business forum for Piedmont Triad women, returns to the Wyndham Championship next week, the tournament announced today. The 77th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 15-21, 2016 at Sedgefield Country Club.

The fourth annual Executive Women’s Day brings together influential women from the greater Piedmont Triad area to participate in an engaging, daylong event focused on professional development, networking and health and wellness. Executive Women’s Day is set for on Aug. 16, 2015, in the Clubhouse Grille Room at Sedgefield Country Club.
The keynote speaker for this year’s event is international soccer superstar Mia Hamm who led the United States Women’s National Team to the gold medal at the Olympics in 1996 and 2004 and the Women’s World Cup title in 1991 and ’99. After addressing Executive Women’s Day, Hamm will spend time with a group of Piedmont Triad soccer players and then play in Wednesday’s Louis DeJoy and Aldona Z. Wos Family Foundation Pro-Am.

“North Carolina has a long and proud history of women in leadership roles,” said Reagan Greene Pruitt, Blue Cross’ director of brand strategy and integrated marketing. “It’s vitally important that we continue to provide forums like Executive Women’s Day that facilitate the ongoing dialogue among women leaders about how we can ensure that women have equal opportunities to pursue their professional and personal goals. We owe this to all the remarkable women who’ve gone before and to the next generation of women who will assume the challenge of making our state a better place to live for everyone.”

“Executive Women’s Day is an opportunity for Piedmont Triad women to come to the Wyndham Championship for a day of networking, corporate dialogue and potential career building,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. “We’re very happy with how Executive Women’s Day has grown in the last few years, and I think this year’s event will be our best yet. We appreciate our friends at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina for their sponsorship and their participation, and we thank Sunbrella® and BB&T for supporting Executive Women’s Day.

“Mia Hamm has achieved so much in her life from her on-field accomplishments to her Mia Hamm Foundation and business endeavors. I know she will add a great deal to the event, and we’re proud to have her at the Wyndham Championship.”

Some 100 businesswomen are expected to attend the event, which includes a morning networking opportunity followed by lunch and Hamm’s keynote address. After lunch, the event features a “Power Panel Discussion” among female leaders representing multiple business fields and an additional networking opportunity in the afternoon. “Power Panel Discussion” participants are:
• Kathy Higgins, vice president of corporate affairs, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.
