Men’s Golf Announces Final Wave Of 2016 Class

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College Head Men’s Golf Coach Dirk Fennie announced the final part of his 2016 recruiting class Wednesday.

Scott Campbell
Kernersville, N.C.
East Forsyth High School
Freshman

PREP: Campbell comes to Greensboro College from East Forsyth High School, where he was a four-year member of the men’s golf team. He earned Player of the Year honors two times, while being named team MVP and captain in 2015. Campbell also picked up two wins on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour in 2015.

What Coach Fennie said about Scott: “The addition of Scott was a pleasant surprise this summer. He brings the ability to win golf tournaments, having won two Hurricane Junior Tour events in the last year. He is familiar with our team and our goals, and he will fit right in achieving the goals we have set for ourselves.”

Sean O’Connor
Indian Trail, N.C.
Porter Ridge High School
Freshman

PREP: During his four years on the Porter Ridge golf team, O’Connor earned All-Conference honors three times and All-County honors twice. O’Connor also served as a team captain in his final two seasons and qualified for the 2016 N.C. Amateur Championship.

What Coach Fennie said about Sean: “Sean is so ready to play competitive college golf. He qualified for the N.C. State Amateur and had solid rounds in a U.S. Amateur qualifier this summer. Sean is someone who will make an immediate impact on this program and will make Greensboro College golf a better team from Day 1.”

Torao Yasunaga
Columbus, Ohio
Upper Arlington High School
Freshman

PREP: During Yasunaga’s four years on the Upper Arlington High School men’s golf team, Yasunaga earned OCC Events Honorable-Mention honors, while being named the team’s most sportsmanlike athlete.

What Coach Fennie said about Torao: “Torao brings enthusiasm, passion for the game, and a desire to become the best player he can be. He is excited to come south to be a part of a college golf program. I believe he will be an important part of this team within a short time.”
