College Indoor Track and Field Results – Guilford Opens Season at Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Guilford College’s Sommer Fanney set the school record in the 800 meter run as the Quakers opened their indoor season at the Wake Forest Invitational at the JDL Fast Track. Schools from all NCAA Divisions participated in the event.

Fanney’s 800 meter run finish broke the school record by 2.57 seconds with a time of 2:31.38. The time was the top-Division III finish in a race filled with Division I and II runners. Fanney was in a group of five runners who finished in the 2:31 range and was .21 seconds away from cracking the top-20.

Alise Green led the sprinters, running the second-fastest 60 meter dash time in school history, posting a time of 8.62 seconds. The finish was the third-best Division III time. Green also ran the second-fastest 200 meter dash time in school history with a time of 29.81. She also placed third among Division III runners in the race.

Jeremiah Hedrick (Sedalia, N.C./Southern Guilford) posted the best Division III mark in the triple jump, jumping for a mark of 12.06 meters. Hedrick had a close finish with teammate Dwayne Duncan, who finished just behind him with a mark of 12.00 meters. Hedrick also placed second among Division III runners with a time of 25.47 seconds.

Tim Marshall secured the third-best Division III 60 meter dash time with a finish of 7.24 seconds. Marshall was part of pack of six runners whose range of finishes were within .02 seconds. He was also one of two runners who finished at 7.24 seconds, with Marshall placing ahead in the tiebreaker at 7.237 seconds.

Coach Danny Cash’s Quakers return to the track Saturday, February 4th when Guilford travels to Christopher Newport University for the Vince Brown Invitational.
