“Monday in the Middle”:Middle School Basketball Finals coming in from today’s action(Mendenhall Mr. Mustangs go to [9-0], while EG Wildcat girls top MMS)/NEG tops SEG in boys and more scores coming in, Send Them In

*****SEND US YOUR SCORES*****
Northeast Guilford Middle School boys 45, Southeast Guilford 42
Northwest Guilford Middle School girls 27, Guilford Middle School 10
So far it looks like we have Aycock boys and girls winning, Northwest Guilford boys and girls winning, Eastern Guilford girls winning, Mendenhall boys winning and Northeast Guilford boys winning…Still need all the scores and finals that we can get/find and thanks for sending the results our way….

We were at Mendenhall today and got the chance to see the Mustangs and the Eastern Guilford Wildcats in action….
Girls Final and the EG Wildcats led my Diamond Monroe took the opener at MMS/Mendenhall Middle School:
Eastern Guilford Middle School 43, Mendenhall Middle 38…
Diamond Monroe led the EG Middle School Lady ‘Cats with 25 big points somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 big free throw in the second half, plus she three three’s in the first half….Mendenhall was led by Isis Adams with 18 points and she had a great game two and you know the players were playing well, when you can remember their uniform numbers without having to look back and Monroe #40 and Adams #24….
All of the girls on both sides of the court played well today and you can tell they played well when you look back at how this scoring went…
End of 1st Q:EG 8, Mendenhall 5…Halftime:Mendenhall 18, EG 17….End of 3rd Q:EG 25, Mendenhall 22….Final:EG 43, Mendenhall 38…Monroe and Adams again both had plenty of support today with #12 and #50 for EG coming to mind and #25 for Mendenhall was playing a key in support of Adams and supporting the Mustangs….MIA from today’s action was the EG ‘Cat Frazier, as she was down today due to injury…

Boys game at Mendenhall today…
Final:Mendenhall Mustangs 60, Easter Guilford Wildcats 25…
Kayden Dawkins led the EG ‘Cats in scoring with 12 points, while Mendenhall was paced by J. Ellis and J. Alexander with 11 points each…
Big win for Mendenhall boys as they improve to (9-0) on the season….
Here is how the boys game rolled:End of 1st Q:Mendenhall 20, EG 4…Halftime:MMS 34, EG 6…End of 3rd Q:MMS 50, EG 14…Final:MMS 60, EG 25…
*****One of the more interesting parts of the boys game was watching the pint-sized Brycen from EG…Brycen was all of 4 feet tall and he didn’t trip anybody either…The little kid can play and did score two points in the game…Fun to watch the little mini-Mugsy Bouges/mini-Spud Webb type player on the middle school court and he got lots of cheers from all of the fans(both schools/teams) on hand today….This kid will be one to watch as he gets older and begins to grow…If you have ever seen Brian Free, was at Ragsdale now at Piedmont Classical School, this kid is much like him, but much smaller and there is a kid over at Kiser that is real small and these kids all seem to come from the same blueprint and they are fun to watch and they don’t have to be scoring, it is their ball-handling, their defense and their hustle that makes it all go for them and you can tell they love to be out there, on that basketball court….

Hoping to get some more scores in from these other games today and we will place them up top and let you keep referring back to the game from Mendenhall….

Here is a list of today’s games and hoping to get more scores coming in….

  1. We need some Aycock Lions or some folks from Jackson to check in here…

We saw Jackson at Kiser last week and the Jackson boy’s team has some players that are on their way, and the Jackson girls have some work to and I’m sure that they are doing that…

Don’t know a thing about Aycock so for this year…Last year Aycock had the Zellous kid and others and a couple of year ago it was Cody King and company and I think Paris Kea’a little brother was with Aycock last year too and he is now at Grimsley and Zellous is over at Dudley…

Let’s hear this year’s version of Aycok and Jackson…

  2. Thanks to the Lion that checked in and let’s see if we can get some exact numbers on those games and more games too…

    We appreciate it….

  3. Jackson middle school has a tough Point guard that can finish at the rim..Amarya Huggins who is only in the 7th grade.Has a nice handle and has a good feel for the game. Amarya just needs to develop a jump shot from outside the arch. Watch out for this kid in the Future!!

  4. We will keep that watch out for Huggins and hope he has a very successful season and future in basketball…

If we can get Bob(Huggins) to come in here and lend a hand, we might be able to really get this thing shaking…

Hoping good things for Amarya and teach him to dribble so he can look up and see the whole court and to pass to the open spot and when somebody is open and they are on your team, get it/the ball to them…

  5. NW girls over Guilford Middle girls 27-10. NW boys won big over Guilfordbut don’t have the exact score.

  6. Aycock is pretty tough! That Mendenhall and Aycock boys game will be the one to go to. Aycock has athletes for days. Mendenhall counters with more skill guys both should be undefeated heading into that matchup.

  7. Just when I thought I was on top of my game….Well I will have to keep shooting, I guess…

My line-of-thinking was along that of one of my favorite guards in the county, Amari Jackson for the Page girls…Amarya, Amari, I thought I found a connection…

Funny thing happened back in football season when we had a missing student one Friday night and the name was Jada and I thought it was young middle school girl and it ended up being a young missing middle school boy…(Had to adjust that post too.)

Same basketball fundamental rules apply for both male and female guards…Learn to dribble so you can look up and see the whole court….Make passes to anyone on your team and even more so, if they are the open player….

These are good learning sessions and remember to know where the ball is at all times when you are dribbling…

How many of us have been guilty of showing off while dribbling the basketball and then proceeded to dribble the ball right off of our foot, and out-of-bounds???

Good basketball war room and find us some more scores gang, I am looking too…

I had to leave for a few minutes so I could enjoy listening to N.C. State beat Duke on my car radio…Love it, 84-82 State, in Durham……

Great day/night in Wolf Pack Country….

Never thought about it much before, but I guess Wolf Pack is two words, at least that is what spell check is showing…

Learn many new things every day….
