Eastern Guilford boys 56, Southern Durham Spartans 53 (OT)
EG Wildcats were down 36-24 at Halftime, the ‘Cats trailed 38-37 at the end of three quarters, the game gets all tied up at 48-all at the end of regulation and EG battles and despite some very confusing calls by the officiating crew, the ‘Cats get it done and they won, 56-53 and now they will face the Eastern Alamance Eagles in the sectional finals on Saturday night at EG…Tonight Jalen Alston went out with deep thigh bruise and two fouls in the first quarter and missed most of the first half and Montez Venable picked up his third foul with 1:36 left in the 1st quarter and missed almost all of the first half, just like Alston and EG stil found a way to win….Jalen Alston led Eastern Guilford with 19 points and played pretty much all of the second half and the Overtime period….Also for EG you had Ramal Patterson with 10 points, Nic Cheeley with 9, Jaden Nesbitt with 6, Christian McMullen with 5, Cameron Collins with 3, plus Montez Venable and Dominique Graves with 2 each…For Southern Durham you had Antonio Brown with 14, James Day Jr. with 13, Oscar Dixon had 11, Robinson 8 and Moore with 7 rounds out the Spartans scoring…One other notes, EG was down 18-11 at the end of the First Quarter….
EG out-scores Southern Durham 13-2 in the Third Quarter and came out on top, 24-12 in the Second Half…Quite the turnaround for Eastern Guilford and it led to win…Jalen Alston can play for any team in Guilford County, private schools included….
