+++++We have written something about every team today and is delivery man bringing it home for the home teams.+++++

4-A’s:
Boys
#15 Charlotte Independence(22-6) at #3 Southwest Guilford(23-3) 7pm…SWG defeated Independence in the Sectional Final last year, 66-65 at SWG…
#22 Rocky River(17-10) at #10 Dudley(15-9) 7pm….Dudley boys must find a way to let this home court advantage work for them tonight…
#12 Page(18-0) at #7 Lake Norman(20-7)…Rematch of 2014 Regional Final at the Greensboro Coliseum, game won by Lake Norman, Page owes them one..Among the starters for Page on that Sunday afternoon, yes they played on Sunday, due to snow delays from the entire previous week and among the regulars for Page that day were Ty Graves, Anthony Eaves, Xavier Hill-Mais, Jeremy Harris, Jalen Gavin, Jalen Seegars and Diondre Overton…LN 61, Page 58 that day…
#13 Northwest Guilford(21-5) at #5 North Mecklenburg(23-3) 7pm…Good start back on Tuesday in Round One, but facing a much different animal tonight…This North Meck team came to Page a couple years back and the Pirates put them out…65-49 Page in the Sectional Final of 2015…
#20 Smith(18-9) at #4 West Forsyth(25-2)….West Forsyth Titans coached by Rusty Larue and have been tough all season…
#21 High Point Central(16-9) at #6 Hoke County(21-6)….Go Bison and Go Coach Joel Battle, Coach of the Year in the Piedmont Triad 4-A Conference…

Girls
#14 Hough(22-5) at #5 Page(20-7) 6:30pm…Like we said yesterday, Page must get off to a good start in this game…Did not do that back on Tuesday….
#16 WS Reagan(21-6) at #2 Northwest Guilford(25-2) 7pm..Liz Kitley was out sick back on Tuesday and the Vikings will need her tonight, but have been real impressed recently with the drive and determination of Bria Gibbs and her inside work, on the opposite block from Kitley…Cayla King with 28 points and Lindsay Gauldin had 22 points, 6 steals and a couple of blocked shots for NWG back on Tuesday…NWG could use that same kind of effort this evening…
#10 Dudley(17-10) at #8 T.C. Roberson(18-8) 6pm….Dudley girls hoping to get out of town by 11am for the haul to Asheville…By school bus that can be a long trip/ride….
#19 Southeast Guilford(17-9) at #3 WS Reynolds(22-3)…..Two players that can make a difference for SEG are Simmons and Parker…Love the way they play and those two are players of the future….
#13 Southwest Guilford(20-7) at #1 Mallard Creek(26-0) 7pm…Mallard Creek ranked #1 for a reason, the Lady Mavericks have hard to handle this season…

3-A’s:
Boys
#10 Southern Durham(19-7) at #3 Eastern Guilford(25-3) 7pm….Southern Durham beat Western Guilford 76-46 back on Tuesday night, so “Get Ready” time for Wildcats….Montez Venable hit the 1,000 point mark for EG in Tuesday night’s win by the ‘Cats…
#16 Northern Guilford(16-9) at #4 West Brunswick(17-8)…Same school that Northern opened up this year in Round One of the football playoffs, WB Trojans 35-21 in that one, down in Coach Eric Westberg’s old stomping grounds and it is a long ride to Shallotte, NC, home of the Trojans….
#19 Southern Guilford(14-10) at #2 Hillsborough Orange(21-6) 7:30pm…First playoff win in 19 years for Southern back on Tuesday with the victory at South Johnston….Orange beat Eastern Guilford back in December in the Holiday Tournament and Orange Panthers were led by Conner Crabtree with 27 points and Logan Vosburg with 24 points…I was that game and EG ran out to an early 13-0 lead and the Orange went to work and a run of 24-0 in the third quarter and they were gone winning the game over EG, 74-60…

Girls
#18 Gray’s Creek(15-9) at #1 Northern Guilford(26-1)…..Going to hard to stop the Nighthawks, inside and outside they are on the money…Cunane and Wampler led them back on Tuesday and tonight it could be Cunane and a number of other players and if you figure out a way to stop Cunane, call me…
#16 Northeast Guilford(21-6) at #2 Jacksonville(26-1)…Coach Daryl Steele’s Ladies of Steele won in OT over Wilson Hunt back on Tuesday and tonight they face a must tougher task on the road in Jacksonville….Can Nichelle Jeffries and the other Rams; Martin, Morrison, Mock, Pearley and others dial up their ‘A’ game tonight????
#26 Eastern Guilford(14-12) at #13 Rockingham County(23-3) 6:30pm…The ROCK Cougars only have three losses and I’m thinking all three have been to Northern Guilford and that shows how tough and how much in control the Nighthawks are in the 3-A ranks…

2-A’s:
Boys
#9 Wilkes Central(18-9) at #7 T. Wingate Andrews(18-8)….Limited knowledge on TWA, but wish Coach Rennie and the Red Raiders well…Got to be thinking they have a good chance to move on to Round Three…

1-A’s
Boys
Bishop McGuinness at North Stanley…..Bishop boys can beat their own drum tonight with a win on the road…Cappuccio will probably handle of lot the scoring needs, but he needs some major help by the time you hit Round Two…

Girls
Bishop McGuinness at South Davidson(Denton)….South Davidson always a tough women’s game and I still remember when Gina Beasley was there back in the 80’s and she was tearing it up for the then Red Raiders and my mom was there back in the 40’s and that year Denton made it to the Regional Finals in Thomasville and that was long trip for Denton back then, going from Denton to Thomasville…I think they left school at 8:30 that morning for the 18 mile trip….

  1. Who are the locks to win tonight???

    Do you say,
    Northern Girls
    Northwest Girls
    Southwest Boys
    Eastern Boys
    Page Girls
    Dudley Girls
Do we have others you feel might be a lock to win their games tonight and maybe you feel the ones up top will not win and they will be gone by 10pm tonight?????

Who will remain to play on Saturday in the Sectional Finals?

Remember that Sectional Final with Northwest Guilford vs. Dudley last year, where that girls game went into Overtime??

We could see that again this year, but we will have to wait and see….

  2. SWG will have a tough time with Independence i think. They have a lot of length as well as the athleticism to run with SWG. Hopefully the Boys will come out running and gunning!!!

  3. We will have a game report from Greg Vlazny when the game is complete for SWG…Also NWG boys, NEG girls, SG boys, Dudley, Smith, NG boys, Page girls and boys Eastern and more…

  4. Look out for SW and NE girls tonight. Both on the road against higher seeds, but both teams match up well. Locks: NW girls, NG girls, SW boys, EG boys

  5. Eastern Guilford boys over Southern Durham by 3 in OT. Awesome game to watch. Both teams played well. Jaylen Alston, Ramel Patterson did a great job for Eastern. Nic Cheeley and Montaez Venable was clutch at the line.

  6. some teams get very little credit so you think the three games that rockingham lost was to northen Guilford (wrong)do your home work

  7. Well I know Northern Guilford beat them twice and it is a credit to the ROCK…

NG and the ROCK are still in the playoffs and they carry the Mid-State banner for now…

  8. 6:00p
    Northeast Guilford (McLeansville, NC)
    Box Score
    49 – 46 Over the ROCK…

Good job by NEG, but ROCK at (24-3) and NG at (27-1) are still rolling…

NG is the team, there is no about….NEG lost to a very tough Jacksonville team on Thursday night….

It has been tough for NEG to get the respect again, but it is coming…You have to do it for 4-5 years straight for it to be a real run…And that is pretty tough…
