High School Basketball Tonight in and around Guilford County:Time for Round Four of the NCHSAA Playoffs

All of our teams left are in Guilford County and not really any left within the Greensboro city limits….We have five Guilford County teams remaining in the playoffs, as we hit Round Four, and that is 5 Guilford County teams and Mecklenburg County, much bigger than us, and including Charlotte, they only have three teams left in the playoffs, as Round Four gets under way…For Meck, you have Mallard Creek(girls), Ardrey Kell(girls) and Matthews Butler(boys), and only one boys team left from Meck, that is really something….

On behalf of the Mid-State 3-A Conference, they have three Guilford County teams still in the hunt, with the Northern Guilford boys and girls and the Eastern Guilford boys still rolling along into Round Four and the Mid-State has one more team, when you add in nearby Rockingham County(girls)….

Just a few notes on the teams with the games going into tonight’s action and how many Guilford County teams will still be standing after the floors are cleared, at the end of the evening??? Do you see three, or will there be more, maybe four???? Or, are we down to just two teams and who is left to play in the Regional Finals on Saturday at UNCG, WS Joel Coliseum, Methodist U. and at Fayetteville State….It should be great and I hope I got all of those venues correct and if not, we can always edit our way back to safety….

Good luck on the games and Who will make it through, do we have 4, 3, 1, or 2, it is up to you, if you have a clue……….

+++++Former Carolina Panthers’ wide receiver Mushin Muhammad still has one daughter left on the Ardrey Kell Knights team, that will be at Northwest Guilford tonight, and that one is #11 Journey Muhammad….Journey is averaging 9.5 points per game this season…At one time Mushin/”Moose” Muhammad had three daughters on the team(Ardrey Kell) at one time and they were Chase, Jordan and Journey Muhammad….Moose always seemed like a pretty smart fellow, from what I could hear…Never met, but heard him speak/talking quite a few times…..+++++

$$$$$ On the Rockingham County girls front and we were talking about them upstairs in the Mid-State 3-A File,

  1. I want to wish the Bartlett Yancey girls good luck tonight at Bertie. I don’t think many, if any, hardcore b’ball fans (myself included)saw this run coming. That program has come a long, long way.

  2. Bartlett Yancey(23-6) at Bertie(28-1) and Coach Lindsey Page coaching the girls and BY used to have a woman coaching the boys…

Coach Page must be 80 years old by now, if this is the same Lindsey Page that coached Sleepy Taylor and the Buccaneers to the Title game back in the 70’s…

If this is the old coach, this is unreal and if it is not, he must be a close facsimile thereof…

Lindsey Page is one of the top and best high school basketball coaches in the history of the NCHSAA…

Last I heard, his son was coaching at Roanoke College and I will check on that…(He’s not there now.)

That count nothing out when coach Lindsey Page is involved….Just like Freddy Johnson, only a bit older and maybe equal in overall basketball knowledge….Maybe not, I don’t know, but they are both Hall of Famers….

Coach Page is one for the books….The history books of high school basketball in North Carolina that is…
