A very cold night over at Western Guilford High School but they got the dedication in and Western Guilford is now home to, the “Brett Stell Baseball Stadium”….

The Final Score of the JV game there tonight was, Western Guilford 11, Grimsley 4

Then it was time to hit the field for the Stadium Dedication with Coach Stell back in the house. along with WG Principal Kashubara, Guilford County School Board member Darlene Garrett, Athletic Director Chris Causey, and former player Scott Muscat all speaking, in addition to Coach Stell’s remarks…

Former WG baseball All-State catcher Jerry Russell was there to receive/catch the ceremonial first-pitch from Coach Stell and many other former Western Guilford baseball players, athletes and former students were there for this special night….Dean and Susan Harrison were there from Graham Sporting Goods and a good one from the past, former WG football coach and Athletic Director Doug Henderson, was in attendance….Also good to see Reid Holmes, the head baseball coach at Southwest Guilford, and a former player baseball player for Coach Stell, among the attendees….

Quite a night for the Western Guilford faithful and great to see Coach Brett Stell honored during this celebration/occasion…Coach Stell was a very good leader and mentor to the young men he coached over the years and many of those young men were back there tonight, to honor and remember their coach….

Good to see this done for Coach Stell while he is still living and with us and the same for Coach Henderson, who had the WG football stadium named after him a few years back and it always means more while you are still here to experience it and enjoy the occasion….

We will have more baseball and softball scores coming in here soon and again let’s hear it for Coach Brett Stell, his stadium time has arrived/come and we also need to thank Bill Ahrens for the hard work he put in, making sure that the event was rolling, moving and happening…It was an happening event tonight……

  1. It was a cold one out there tonight…Right at 42 degrees and the wind was howling/blowing…

  2. SE 6 NW 5 in a good baseball game tonight at NW.
Jaylen Guy got the win with Ryan Douglas picking up the save.
Devin Bartley 2 run homer. Noah Marley 2-3 and Ryan Douglas big 2 out 2 rbi hit in the 5th or 6th

  3. Whirlies off to a sensational start, looking like a promising season is ahead! Great job Whirlies!
