Coach Gunn gone at Grimsley:Coach Tina Gunn has resigned as the Grimsley girls basketball coach

Press Release:
Grimsley High School would like to take this opportunity to thank coach Tina Gunn for her 5 years of dedicated service to the women’s basketball program and the Grimsley athletic department. We have enjoyed working with Coach Gunn over the last 5 years while at Grimsley and appreciate her dedicated hard work with our young ladies.

Grimsley High School will begin the search for a varsity and junior varsity girls head coach over the next few weeks.

Lewis Newman, CAA
Athletic Director
Grimsley High School

*****Note Coach Gunn’s son Adam Gunn, is now the JV Baseball head coach and assistant varsity baseball coach at Southern Guilford High School…*****
Adam and his dad Jim Gunn used to help Coach Gunn while she was the head coach at Eastern Guilford High School….A great family and some of the best people I have worked with over the years….Gunns with always plenty of firepower, but just not enough live rounds of ammunition to get it going at Grimsley right now….

We will be bringing back history of Gunn permits/Coaching records in a few…
Coach Gunn had 17 wins in five years at Grimsley and the Whirlies won just 3 conference games over that time span, but at Eastern Guilford, in the five years prior to Coach Gunn coming to Grimsley, her EG Wildcat teams won 103 games and lost just 39…Coach Gunn had records at (26-5), (23-5) and (22-6) ranking as her best years while at EG….Grimsley was not a good fit, but you take it run, and if your Coach Gunn, you must ‘Run and Gunn’…

  1. Agree with your comments above Andy. Coach is a very fine person and the family is fantastic. This is a real loss to GHS. I really hate to see a person of this caliber leaving the Grimsley Athletics Department.

  2. Here’s hoping Coach Gunn might land someplace like Southern Guilford or at Eastern Guilford as an assistant coach and here’s hoping Coach Gunn is not done yet…

  3. Coach Gunn is a good coach and, more importantly, a fine person.
I will miss seeing her on the sidelines for Grimsley and hope she lands somewhere else.
