Jason Bradley has been named the new Head Football Coach at Southern Guilford High School

Southern Guilford High School has named Coach Jason Bradley as their new head football coach.

Coach Bradley has spent the past four seasons as the head coach at Wheatmore High School. Prior to his arrival at Wheatmore, Coach Bradley spent two seasons at Randleman High School as an assistant football coach serving as the Tigers outside linebackers coach. In addition to his stint at Randleman, Bradley also spent five years as an assistant football and baseball coach at Smoky Mountain High School in Sylva, NC.

Coach Bradley and the Warriors shared a second place conference finish and the school’s first ever state playoff appearance in 2015. Along the way, Bradley was named the 2015 Randolph County Coach of the Year.

After graduating from Smoky Mountain High School in 1996, Coach Bradley attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a member of the Tar Heels football team from 1997-2001. Coach Bradley is also a cum laude graduate of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. Coach Bradley and his wife, Casey, have six children, Malachi, Noah, Zane, Addison, Maggie, and Sydney.

We are excited to name Coach Bradley as the new head football coach at Southern Guilford High School and we welcome Coach Bradley and his family to the Southern Guilford community.

From MaxPreps.com on Coach Bradley at Wheatmore:
2016-(3-8/1-4)
2015-(5-7/3-2)…Made it to the First Round of the playoffs, first time in school history…
2014-(5-6/1-4)
2013-(1-10/1-4)

Overall(14-31)…Conference(6-14)….Going back over 10 years-plus, the best Wheatmore has done has been those 5 win seasons and they had two of those strong years with Coach Bradley and two years of five wins, when Eugene Everhart was there….

  1. 2015 was not the first playoff appearance for Wheatmore. They made the playoffs back in 2012, where they lost to East Lincoln. I believe EL went on to win the state championship that year too. Not a bad hire for SG though, I think coach Bradley will do fine and provide some much needed stability to that program. Good luck coach.

  2. November 2, 2012 it was East Lincoln 49, Wheatmore 0…from MaxPreps…

Game came as a playoff game early in November that season, so the November 2 date almost looks like a regular season date…

Wheatmore finished (5-7) that season under head coach Eugene Everhart, who I think also spent time as the head coach at Central Davidson and at Ragsdale….

  3. Yes, and it looks like the first playoff appearance for the school was in 2011. They went down to Fairmont, with similar results…Fairmont-48 Wheatmore- 17. Finished with a 5-7 record that year as well.

  4. I would give the guy a chance — it looks like Wheatmore does not have the type of players other schools may have based on historical records/coaching history. SG will be moving into a tougher conference next year but there are good players there. Two tough acts to follow in Brown and Bates.

  5. I agree, the athletes at Wheatmore are totally different than the ones at SG. Many people look at just the wins and losses, but his resume seems pretty good given the talent that he had and the teams they played against. Andrews, Randleman, ER…those are always solid teams in 2A. They even beat ER in 2015. I think he will do a good job over at SG.
