Women’s Lacrosse: HPU Opens Big South Play with 20-1 Win at Gardner-Webb

• The Panthers scored the first 11 goals of the game
• Sophomore Emory Gaeng scored a career-high four goals
• Sophomore Maggie Williams posted her first career hat trick

BOILING SPRING, N.C.—The High Point University women’s lacrosse game opened Big South play with a 20-1 win at Gardner-Webb Saturday afternoon in Boiling Spring, N.C.

The Panthers (7-3, 1-0 Big South) outshot the Runnin’ Bulldogs (0-11, 0-1), 30-8 and led in ground balls, 17-8, and draw controls, 15-7. High Point scored the first 11 goals of the game and led 14-1 at halftime.

“I’m really happy for the team to get this first conference win on the road,” HPU head coach Lyndsey Boswell said. “We had several contributors today in all aspects of the game, so I’m really proud of everyone for stepping in and competing for a full 60 minutes. We are excited to be back at home on Wednesday night.”

Sophomore Emory Gaeng scored a career-high four goals, while sophomore Maggie Williams posted her first career hat trick. Junior Brooke Stevens dished out four assists, while senior Samantha Brown tallied three goals and an assist to extend her streak of three or more points in a game to seven contests.

Senior Darla Poulin and freshman Grace Giampetroni had two goals each, while juniors Erica Perrotta, Erin Ilchuk and Haley Roberts and sophomore Ashley Little each posted a goal.

Freshman Jill Rall made three saves to earn her sixth-straight win.

Next up, the Panthers host conference rival Winthrop Wednesday at 7 p.m.
