Elon’s Johansen Sets School Record on Final Day of Tiger Track Classic

AUBURN, Ala. – Kimberly Johansen set a school record in the 800m and the Elon University women’s track and field team completed the Tiger Track Classic hosted by the University of Auburn on Saturday, April 8, at the Hutsell-Rosen Track.

FINAL RESULTS

Johansen broke her previous school record in the 800m run crossing the finish line in a person-best time of 2:08.41. She bested her previous school record time of 2:10.42 and earned a second-place finish in the event.

The Phoenix additionally had two competitors place first in their respective events. Breanna Warren earned a first-place finish in the discus, setting a new career-best throw of 166’2″ (50.65m). Also, Corey Weiss placed first in the 3,000m steeplechase with a new personal-best time. She crossed the finish line at 10:59.95, which is the fifth-best time in program history.

In addition, Coralea Geraniotis blazed to a new personal-best and a top-five performance list time of 9:59.77 in the 3,000m run. Her time is ranked second in program history and is just over five seconds away from the school-record time of 9:54.75.

Ellie Bennett also set a personal record in the pole vault clearing 11’3.75″ (3.45m) and placing 11th overall. Her mark is third on the program’s all-time performance list.

Brigid Brennan entered the top-five performance list in program history for the 1,500m clocking a personal-best 4:33.95 and placing ninth. Her time ranks fifth in program history. Chelsea Smith also made her first appearance in the top-five performance list for the 800m, clocking a career-best 2:13.85.

Additionally, Bryanna Hames competed in the discus and earned a top-three finish placing third overall.

Elon returns to competition next Saturday to host the Phoenix Invitational on, April 15, at the Jerry and Jeanne Robertson Track and Field Complex.
