ELON, N.C. – Sloane Kessler – the Elon University women’s lacrosse all-time leader in points and assists – has been selected to participate in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game next month on June 3 in Sparks, Md., the organization announced Friday afternoon.
Kessler is among the 44 Division I players selected to participate in the game next Saturday. Each NCAA Division has been divided into North and South teams with Kessler representing Elon and the South Team. Saturday’s game will be held at Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters at 11:30 a.m. It will also be streamed live on IWLCA-tv.com. The Division II and Division III games will be played immediately following the Division I game.
Kessler ended her career in maroon and gold this month with 178 points and 87 assists, pacing the program in both categories. The Owings Mills, Md., native is also second all-time in goals (91), shots (182) and free position goals (21) and is fourth in ground balls (77). As a senior, Kessler appeared in all 20 games and was second on the team with 25 goals and 49 points. Her 24 assists set a new program record for most in a single season and finished nearly double Shannon Horan’s second-place total of 13. A fourth-year captain in 2017, Kessler helped guide Elon to a 13-7 record with a trip to the CAA Finals and the NCAA Tournament.
Kessler is one of four players from the CAA selected to participate in the game. She joins Towson’s Samantha Brookhart and Kelly McQuilkin and James Madison’s Hannah Jablonski. The South Team is coached by Towson head coach Sonia LaMonica.
