Elon Earns FCS ACA Academic Progress Rate Award

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) presented Elon with its Academic Progress Rate (APR) Award as the Phoenix was recognized for having the highest APR among CAA Football programs with a 993 for the 2015-16 year. The APR Award recognizes the one institution from each of the 13 FCS conferences that has the highest APR score.

The NCAA member colleges and universities adopted a comprehensive academic reform package designed to improve the academic success and graduation of all student-athletes. The centerpiece of the package is the academic measurement for teams, known as the APR.

The institutions received their awards during the FCS ADA Luncheon sponsored by Borden Perlman Insurance Agency, on Monday, June 12 in conjunction with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Convention at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Fla.

The Elon football program was one of seven Phoenix squads recently recognized by the NCAA for scoring in the top 10 percent in their sport nationally. Elon’s seven recognized teams tied for the most in the Colonial Athletic Association.
