HOLLYWOOD, S.C. – Charlie May currently stands in a tie for eighth individually after draining six birdies and an eagle in the first two rounds as the Elon University men’s golf team currently stands in a tie for sixth after the first day of The Battle at Stono Ferry on Friday, Nov. 3, at the Links at Stono Ferry.
May opened the tournament with three birdies and an eagle in the first 18 holes before rounding out his first day with three more birdies in the second round. He is in a tie for eighth individually after shooting four-under par in the first 36 holes. Elon as a team (293-282–575) is in a tie for sixth at one-under par.
Quade Lukes also had a solid first day at the tournament as he made a team-high 10 birdies during the first 36 holes of play. After carding a one-over par 73 in the first round, he bounced back with a four-under par second to move up 20 spots into a tie 11th individually. He is just one stroke behind May at three-under par for the tournament.
Additionally for the Phoenix, Patrick Frodigh, William Harwood and Philip Loeb are each one stroke apart. Frodigh is at five-over par for the tournament and is tied for 48th overall. William Harwood is just one stroke behind Frodigh and in a tie for 52nd and Loeb, competing as an individual, follows in a tie for 54th at seven-over par.
Jake Leavitt is in 62nd in the standings and Robert Seebold is 68th overall competing as an individual.
The Phoenix concludes the fall portion of its schedule with the final round of the The Battle at Stono Ferry on Saturday. The final round will begin at 8 a.m.
