CHARLOTTE, N.C. — High Point University men’s basketball freshman Justyn Mutts has been named the Big South Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday (Dec. 4).

Mutts averaged 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocks in two games last week. In a tough 71-63 loss at Pitt on Tuesday (Nov. 28), the freshman forward scored 13 points, grabbed five rebounds and recorded five steals, which is tied for the most in the conference this season. In the big 90-54 win over Johnson & Wales on Friday night (Dec. 1), the Millville, N.J., native posted 10 points, five rebounds and three blocks in 20 minutes of action.

It is Mutts’ first weekly honor of his career and becomes the first Panther to earn Big South Freshman of the Week honors since Jorge Perez-Laham on Feb. 24, 2014.

The Panthers play at College of Charleston Monday night (Dec. 4) at 7 p.m.
