HIGH POINT – Southwest Guilford used an early second-half spurt to pull away and win another rivalry game.
The Cowboys scored 14 quick points early in the third quarter to lead city rival High Point Central 28-13 midway through the period in nonconference football Thursday night at A.J. Simeon Stadium.
Lightning then halted play just before 9:30 p.m., with 6:24 left in the quarter, and 20 minutes later the game was called. There will be no resumption.
Leading by one at halftime, the Cowboys marched 80 yards on 10 plays to extend their advantage to 21-13 with 8:25 left in the third. Big plays by Kolby Cuthrell, Caleb Curtain and Nemiah Canteen set up a 7-yard lob from Devin Flowers to a leaping Naje McClendon one-on-one in the corner of the end zone.
On the very next play from scrimmage, Bison quarterback Keith McDuffie tried to elude Southwest lineman John Oxce in the backfield, but as he was sacked he fumbled and Jabez Gorham scooped up the loose ball and ran the final 15 yards for a touchdown. That gave the Cowboys a 28-13 lead with 8:09 left in the third.
Both teams scored during each of the first two quarters. Tyree Graham scored on a 28-yard run on Southwest’s opening drive, then, after each team threw an interception, Monterious Godfrey answered with a 5-yard run to pull Central back even. The teams were tied 7-7 through one quarter.

Final 28-7 Page gets the win this year. Dudley won last years contest. It was a 7-7 tie at the half and page made the necessary adjustments at the half. 14-7 going into the 4th and the pick 6 by page did Dudley in. Dudley also need to work on conditioning and special teams. Other than that good ball game. Kinda wish these two teams were still in the same conference so more could be on the line other than bragging rights.

Yeah my bad typo with the 28-0. Dudley QBs are athletic and can run but they missed alot of wide open WRs.

Huge night for Cody King 2 TD catches and one passing TD. I hope colleges don’t over look him do to his size. The kid has talent and is fast
The King kid, his size will be a factor but it will depend on how he will be used. He will get some looks. Remember Tarik Cohen from NC A&T had only one offer coming out of Bunn high school because of his size now he plays for the Chicago Bears.

I must say sitting on Dudley’s side was refreshing. Very soulful atmosphere on the visitor’s side; Panthers’ fans took the loss gallantly. I received calls from Page students and adult fans; the starting QB and DE are heckling. Page won its Guilty County Super Bowl.

I am ecstatic Page’s seniors can look back on August 31st and say “they beat Dudley.”
Page and Dudley fans are mirror images of one another. As the saying goes in the south, “err body aint trying to cheat ya.” I think fans in Guilty County need football clinics on calls, plays, and the game itself. I sat with Page fans for the last 7 years explaining the “whys” of football. I spent half of the game last night explaining to Dudley fans the “whys” too.
Left side of Page’s defense yields more yards and permits better plays. That is the major “why” to Dudley going to its right most of the night.
