Guilford County comes up dry during a Flood Season:NCPreps Top Tens in and GCS nowhere to be seen and you don’t see the GCS shutout, all that often(AP Polls now available in the Comment Box)

No Guilford County Schools in the Week Six Top Ten High School Football Polls at NCPreps.com….We do see the local Reidsville Rams at #2 in the NCPreps.com 2-A Poll and the East Forsyth Eagles at #7 in the 4-A Poll, but NO/Nada/None of our Guilford County Schools in this week’s polls, over at NCPreps.com…

CLICK HERE for the full view of this week’s polls over at NCPreps.com and it looks like our teams got swept away by the flood waters this week, as we hit Week #6 of the 2018 high school football season…

No Power Poll/Power Pole from CarolinaPreps.com this week, due to the damage in the eastern part of our state, caused by Hurricane Florence…Quite a few, in fact a lot of the Eastern NCHSAA schools could not play last week, no Wednesday, Thursday or Friday games and not sure if some of those schools will be able to play this week….

Either way, our teams will play and the day will be Friday, with all fronts appearing to be in Go Mode/All Systems Go, for the Guilford County Schools and maybe we can get a rep back in the state-wide polls next week…

My suggestion would sure be Southwest Guilford High School and especially if the Cowboys(5-0) persevere and get past WS Parkland at home, at “The Ranch”, this Friday night….

  1. It is hard to find those AP HS Football Polls these days, but for Page to get in at #10 with a (1-4) record, that is a Shocker…

Page has the talent, that is not the question, but at (1-4) and still in the Top Ten, that is a little bit wild there…

AP Poll sometimes avail at WRALSportsFan.com, the Burlington Times-News and sometimes at the News and Record, but very sporadic and that is why we go searching for the Carolina Preps and NC Preps polls….

The Carolina GridIron had a nice preseason poll, but nothing rolling since then….

All Associated Press members in North Carolina are eligible to participate in the high school Football poll. Those who voted for this week’s poll are: The Times-News, Burlington; The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte; The Daily Advance, Elizabeth City; The Fayetteville Observer, Fayetteville; The Goldsboro News-Argus, Goldsboro; The News Herald, Morganton; The Salisbury Post, Salisbury; The Wilson Times, Wilson; Winston-Salem Journal, Winston-Salem.

  3. Amazed at the lack of respect for Southern Alamance in these polls. Patriots, coached by Fritz Hessenthaler, are 5-0 with big wins over Western Alamance and Eastern Alamance, yet remain unranked. Southern Alamance is going to be 7-0 when it goes to Southeast Guilford on Oct. 5. That will be quite a night.

  4. Sorry Hines, but playing Cummings, Graham, Southern Durham and a down year for both Western and Eastern Alamance doesn’t mean that you jump on the national stage of North Carolina Football elite. Teams in the polls do it year after year not just because your QB is playing like a 4 star athlete and the team is following his lead. Build a foundation and winning traditions, 11-72 over the last decade won’t do it.

  5. @Poll

So you think I’m David Hines? LOL!

He’s too classy to engage a clown like you, but I’m not.

What is “the national stage of North Carolina Football elite?” Really, what is it? Either it’s a national stage (which it isn’t) or it’s NC high school football. You sound like you’ve already got some CTE going on there. Might want to get that checked out.

I’ll try to make this as simple as I can for you. It’s not about what you did in the past, it’s about what you’re doing now. The poll voters shouldn’t be living in the past, but they clearly are.

Reidsville at No. 2 in 2-A when they barely beat a bad Morehead team? The Rams are down this year (much more so than Western Alamance or Eastern Alamance) and their coach would admit as much. And Page at No. 10 in 4-A? The poll doesn’t even have their record right. And I’m not talking about the forfeits. Without the forfeits they’re 4-1, not the 3-1 record that’s in the poll. Lazy and sloppy, just like their voting. Those are just two examples.

And “building a foundation and winning traditions?” Isn’t that what Hessenthaler (12 playoff appearances and 100 wins in 14 years) did at Southeast before a few soft parents decided his offense wasn’t exciting enough for them?

Karma’s a bitch, and the bitch is back Oct. 5.

  6. Wait a minute…..why is Charlotte Christian listed amongst the top teams in 3A?? Please tell me this is a typo.

  7. @John Allen – Charlotte Christian beat Charlotte Catholic their first game of the season.

@J.D. Springer – Is Southern Alamance running the same offense as Fritz ran at Southeast Guilford………..just asking.

  8. Pretty sure that Langston Wertz Jr. mentioned on Twitter that the Charlotte Christian listing was a typo….

Let’s not get too heated over the game that is still two weeks away, it will be a good one and it might be one that can pack the Bill Slayton Stadium at Southeast Guilford HS, with good weather conditions on that Friday night….

Would expect nothing more that a hard-hitting, well-played high school football game that night with lots of running from Coach Fritz and his Patriots and SEG to balance it somewhat, but their key could be the ground too, but as the old coaches used to say, “we will take what they give us”…..

  9. @John Allen – Those are the AP rankings and I’m guessing that AP ranks regardless of if they private or public. That’s just my guess. Charlotte Christian is classified as 4A.

  10. @John Allen – Just another note. MaxPreps has Charlotte Christian ranked as the #1 football team in North Carolina…………

  11. Let’s cool our jets on a few of the games that we have coming up…

One of those big ones is about two weeks away and let’s not let it get away, before the Big Day…

On the Poll I would say next man up in the 3-A Top Ten and MaxPreps ranks all of the schools together in one of their Super Max Poll, all public and private together…

Let’s all get together for some JV Football Talk, later on tonight….
