High School Football Saturday Morning Rewind:This could be Art Linkletter’s House Party, as the LINKS are rolling in here!!!!!

How many of you remember Art Linkletter’s House Party???

Linkletter’s House Party show ran on CBS television and radio for 25 years and one of the top segments on his show was, “Kids Say the Darndest Things”….Art would interview kids and you never knew what those kids would be saying….

Sort of like our high school football games…You never know how these playoff games will be going, or what these high school kids might be doing…
(Quinton Cooley with 413 yards rushing is a prime example.)
++++++++++And here’s an interesting score for you:#9 Durham Hillside 26, #1 Northern Durham 13, in the NCHSAA 3-AA East Bracket…Next week you have #9 Hillside(9-3) at #4 Cleveland(11-2)…..++++++++++

But here we go with some of the key links from last night’s playoff games…..

CLICK HERE for David Kehrli, no relation to Roger Wehrli(former St. Louis Cardinals’ defensive back), for his report from the Burlington Times-News, on last night’s Eastern Guilford at Southeast Guilford game….Kehrli and Wehrli, an interesting comparison…..

CLICK HERE for the Grimsley Whirlies hosting the Mooresville Blue Devils last night, from Philip Deutsch at the News and Record and HSXtra….
Notes:Mooresville Blue Devils without injured QB Hunter DeBerardino (concussion)…
We’ve played East Forsyth before, and they’re a really good football team, and we are going to run downhill with Quan (Nora) next week.”Darryl Brown, Grimsley coach, looking ahead to his team’s third-round game at top-seeded East Forsyth

CLICK HERE for Owen Hassell at the Wilmington Star News on Dudley at New Hanover last night….Not a real long post, but we did pick up on Nashon Wilhite scoring two rushing TD’s for Dudley, Tawahn Young had an 80-yard TD pass to Mekhi Wall for Dudley and Richard Monroe returned an interception 28 yards for a Dudley score….New Hanover led the game 14-0, before Dudley went to work and then the Panthers won the rest of the game, 42-7….

CLICK HERE for Tim Nash with the News and Record on the Page Pirates vs. the Porter Ridge Pirates and this game was going back-and-forth and Page got hit with some key penalty calls that slowed down their forward progress and the penalty that pushed Matt Chmil’s PAT kick back to 25 yard-line making it a 35-yarder, really hurt the Page Pirates….

HERE we have Jimmy Lewis from the Wilson Times and he was covering the Eastern Alamance-Southern Nash game for the Burlington Times-New and this might be your good old fashioned “High Football Game of the Year”….

STANHOPE — In just about any game, Southern Nash junior Quinton Cooley’s school-record 413 yards rushing would have been the overriding story in Friday night’s second-round Class 3-A football state-playoff matchup with Eastern Alamance.

But on a big stage with exceptional feats on both sides, the Eagles had the final word in a 57-56 victory.

With Southern Nash leading 56-35 with 6:11 to play, Eastern Alamance mounted a furious rally, scoring on its final three possessions and recovering an onside kick along the way en route to pulling off the upset in Firebirds Stadium.

Southern Nash, the No. 2 seed in the East Region and the Big East Conference champion, ended its season with its only loss in 11 games.

Eastern Alamance (10-3), the No. 7 seed, travels to No. 6 Jacksonville in next week’s third round.

CLICK HERE for one for the Grimsley Whirlie fans as we look at East Forsyth over Glenn, coming from Jay Spivey, at the Winston-Salem Journal…
Glenn Notes and this would be attributed to the East Forsyth defense…
The Glenn Bobcats finished with minus-19 yards at halftime, and they finished the game with two fumbles, a dropped punt, an interception and two blocked punts.
