East Forsyth overcame a mistake-prone first 24 minutes with a strong final quarter at West Forsyth and beat the Titans 61-54 in the Central Piedmont 4A Conference opener for both teams. The Eagles, now 10-3, won for the 10th time in their last 11 games on a night when upsets prevailed in the CPC.

The teams swapped the lead seven times in s sluggish first half but West led 24-23 at the half & scored two quick field goals to start the third quarter & take its biggest lead of the game. But the Eagles scored 12 of the next 14 points over the next four minutes behind Savon Brintley, the game’s leading scorer with 17, and Torrian Jackson’s play off the bench.

The Eagles led by as many as 13 points down the stretch (55-42), then survived a parade to the foul line in final three minutes to secure the win. Sophomore Reeves grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and added six points while senior forward Matt Rivers added 10 points and 10 rebounds for East.

Ray Mitchell led the Titans with 17 points and Ryan Ayers added 13 points and ten rebounds for the home team, now 1-11 including six losses by seven points or less in their first season under storied coach Howard West. The Eagles return to conference play under Mike Muse next Tuesday night at home against Reagan and next Friday night against Glenn.
