  1. Ok I do post a bit on this board but when it comes to the playoffs I will be pulling for the GC teams…even Page except of course when they play GHS.

  2. Can we all agree the playoff system is broken? Especially 4A-4AA and 1A-1AA playoffs. You have a team with a sub .500 record that gets a bye? Then you have a team with 3 wins as an 11 seed? This just seems to be a money grab by the NCHSSA. There needs to be a rule you have to be a .500 team to even make the playoffs.

  3. Its not broken, its all about strength of schedule. Some schools have an easy schedule and some have a tough one. Its simple

  4. I agree with broke system. Page doesn’t belong in the playoffs. 3-8 is not good enough. I dont care about strength of schedule. They lost 8. They didn’t win them. One win came against a team with 0 wins. Scale it down too many teams. Not bagging in Page, although I love to. Just simple common sense.

  5. Let’s dig a little deeper. You were gifted 2 wins in a conference with 4 other teams. You beat a 6-5 3A team. Here we are raising ticket prices to pay for athletics. You guys will get out at noon on Friday, take 2 or 3 buses to Mooresville and probably lose and blame someone else. Why not save that fuel and money and distribute it to another team at Page.
With that being said Strength of Schedule is very important. However you should have to be .500 to be even considered for the playoffs. Don’t be silly.

  6. Lotta people in Greensboro mad at Page when they should be mad at THE SYSTEM. I know kids that play at Page and they are good kids and players. I say good luck, make the most of the opportunity.

  7. Agree if not 500 stay home i dont care if u played nfl schedule. Fan of gfan your post nailed it. Plus cmon now too many schools to really break down sos. Strength of schedule according to who? Andy site?(no diss intended andy) who determines sos? Tell me page in based on tradition and suspensions then i respect that explanation.

  8. Ok…..the system is the system. Can’t blame Page for that….Joe Sirera did a really good write up on how Page made it in. All should read it.

Fan of Gfan….if Page would have played Grimsley’s non-conference schedule their record would be much better….can’t argue with strength of schedule. Combined record of Grimsley’s non conference foes was 40-37…just north of .500. Contrast that to the non conference records of Page at 57-19 and you can see the tough schedule. BTW, congratulations on the win over Page….clearly Grimsley was the better team Friday night.

The seedlings have been made. We should all start pulling for our local teams especially when they play teams from other areas. I know I will be doing that.

  9. Anyone else remember when the Panther’s went to the playoffs with a sub .500 record? Maybe 2014 or 2015? Beat the 11-5 cardinals in round 1 to advance. Just find a way in and anything can happen.

  10. No, we don’t determine SOS/Strength of Schedule here, but it does come from the NCHSAA and their MaxPreps Rankings…

from the Joe Sirera article/post at HSXtra.com/News and Record/Greensboro.com:

GREENSBORO — Seeing a 3-8 Page team in the NCHSAA Class 4-A West football playoff bracket Saturday afternoon was a shock to many across the state, including Pirates coach Jared Rolfes. But it wasn’t a surprise to the association officials who had all the pertinent information in front of them.

“It doesn’t matter to people until it affects them,” said James Alverson, the NCHSAA’s assistant commissioner for media relations, publications and special events. “We’ve had (the playoff seeding guidelines) up on our website for two years now and … people don’t read it until they don’t get in or they do get in when they think they should.”

  11. Tongue in cheek btw andy we good. Nobody blaming page or the pick but dont telk me sos i know that is not true. Just be real with it tell me page name tradition oast performance and MOSTLY due to suspensions is why they got in. Dont blow smoke now is all i am saying. Good luck to em

  12. For real now…..obviously you didn’t read Sirera’s article? Let’s not let facts get in the way of an unfounded opinion. Not even sure what you’re talking about. Suspensions? Who?
