Ragsdale girls 70, Southwest Guilford 61
Ragsdale(6-0)/SWG(4-4)
Ragsdale boys 66, Southwest Guilford 65
Ragsdale(3-3)/SWG(4-3)….Ragsdale boys hit a shot with less than 5 seconds left in the game to win this boy’s/men’s nail biter…
This was one of the better and wilder games that I have seen in a while…
Ragsdale JV boys 67, Southwest Guilford 60
from Michael Lindsay, at the High Point Enterprise:From what I could dig up on MaxPreps, tonight was the first Ragsdale girls/boys sweep over Southwest Guilford since Dec. 5, 2008. A big reason seems to have been Southwest’s boys winning 19 of the previous 20 prior to tonight – including the last 17 – if I’m reading this right.Verified by Michael Lindsay….
More details and scores coming up….

Ragsdale-SWG boys game:End of 1st Quarter:SWG 21, Ragsdale 17…Halftime:SWG 34, Ragsdale 32…End of 3rd Q:SWG 48, Ragsdale 46…Final:Ragsdale 66, SWG 65…Shot put up by Ragsdale’s Nasir Parker with less than five seconds remaining in the game, wins it for Ragsdale…SWG did have one last look, with 3/10’s of a second left in the contest, but no, on that final Cowboys shot…There were a lot of questions about the time on the clock, In ihe last 5 seconds of the game…Lots of lead changes and loose basketballs flying around that basketball court tonight, over in Jamestown…One of the more dramatic finishes that we will see this entire season, and the atmosphere/environment for this game, inside that soon-to-be Brian Herndon Gymnasium, was off the charts…

The boy’s game was one of the most exciting games to be there watching LIVE and in person…Sure wished Devan Boykin could have been there to take that game in….Quite the battle and neither team/side would back down, or go away…

Both coaches were having to hear loads of time breakdowns from the officials in the closing minute and especially the last five seconds of this game…Ragsdale was able to get the ball all the way up the court(length of the court) and into the bucket, in less than five seconds and this game will still be ticking away inside quite a few people’s heads, when Monday morning rolls around….

This is one of those games that won’t go away, due the extreme pressure there in the closing seconds…Nobody on Ragsdale panicked, the Tigers just took control of the ball and their Friday the 13th destiny, and made themselves believe that they could win the game, and Ragdale did…The Tigers never stopped believing and in the end, it paid off to the tune of a Friday the 13th spectacular victory/finish, for the boys from Jamestown…

Again, one of the best games we will be around and have the chance to view up close, and first hand, this 2018-20-19 season…A true barn-burner tonight/Friday night, in Jamestown, N.C.

  1. I saw Coach Joe Spinks, from Eastern Guilford, at the Quality Mart Convenience Store on Battleground Avenue last night after the games…

Coach Spinks said his Eastern Guilford Wildcat boys did defeat SW Randolph, but his ‘Cats had an 18 point lead and let it slip away and only won by two points over SWR…

Coach Spinks said, “Got to play better than that”…”Hard to figure out my team right now”…

Was also interesting that I told Coach Spinks that we/GreensboroSports Radio and GreensboroSports.com had been over in Jamestown, for Ragsdale-SWG, and had seen Andrew Siler..

We are thinking Andrew Siler, the son of Robert Siler, the former football and basketball star at Siler City/Jordan Matthews High School and basketball at Wake Forest..

Coach Spinks told that he know Robert Siler back when Coach Spinks was playing professional basketball in Europe and Robert Siler was playing professional basketball in South America…

Coach Spinks said Robert Siler kept on trying to get get him/Coach Spinks to come play pro ball in Venezuela/South America, but Coach Spinks had to stay with his plan to play pro basketball in Europe, because the money/lifestyle was much better in the European Leagues….

    Interesting story and interesting connection….
