You’ve got to be listening to something when you are driving down the road in your car, and half the fun of listening to local radio is changing the stations, and keeping your preset buttons hopping….
Well, yesterday I hit the local sports channel, as I was doing some radio channel surfing on a warm day, and I heard the East Carolina guy, Patrick Johnson in the David/Dave Glenn slot around noon…(Patrick Johnson hosts a local Greenville, N.C. sports radio show and at one time was the morning man on 680 WPTF, in Raleigh.)
Usually no big deal, Dave Glenn has those substitute hosts all of the time right???
But, Patrick Johnson kept on saying he was on the North Carolina Sports Network and then today, and that would be Tuesday, I heard the same thing again….Patrick Johnson, and NO More David Glenn Show….
Patrick Johnson on the North Carolina Sports Network….
So I did some computer surfing and came up with the answer.
Dave/David Glenn is GONE…..No more David Glenn Show from Curtis Media/North Carolina Sports Network…Glenn is out and it is all due to changes at 99.9 The Fan, in Raleigh…New afternoon show for The Fan, with Joe Ovies and Joe Giglio, the “Joe and Joe Show”, I guess and Adam Gold now has his own show, in the old David Glenn noon to 3pm slot….Maybe David Glenn can return later on with a new distributor, but for now, The David Glenn Show is GONE…I used to listen to him back in the day, when he was only on, on Saturday mornings doing his show on 850 The Buzz, out of Raleigh and his with his producer, Eleanor Murray…I used to host a local show here in Greensboro myself back in the day, and I had Dave/David Glenn on as a guest, even before he had a show…
For now, The David Glenn Show is GONE, until they figure out a way to reprogram it…He was on the local stations in the Triad(600, 1230, 1320, 920 AM) and they are owned by the people that canned Dave, Curtis Media……Let’s see what happens next, but for now, here is how it stands and I had to do some big time digging to pull this one up from Jason Barrett, at Barrett Sports Media….Nobody else seems to be talking about this and you would think it would be a big deal with the ACC Tournament in town, but here is the story and BSM is sticking to it…….
DAVID GLENN OUT, LEADS TO LINEUP CHANGES FOR THE FAN
“Glenn and the North Carolina Sports Network teamed up in 2013 after Glenn’s successful run at 850 the Buzz in Raleigh.”
By BSM Staff / March 6, 2020
The North Carolina Sports Network has let syndicated host David Glenn go. His show was heard weekdays from noon until 3 pm on 11 stations across North Carolina.
Glenn and the North Carolina Sports Network teamed up in 2013 after Glenn’s successful run at 850 the Buzz in Raleigh. He not only went to work for the network, he also sold his magazine The ACC Sports Journal to the North Carolina Sports Network’s parent company, Curtis Media Group.
The David Glenn Show had a unique relationship in its home market of Raleigh. It originated from a studio in the Curtis Media building and was sold by Curtis reps, but aired on Capitol Broadcasting’s 99.9 the Fan.
Afternoon host Adam Gold will move into the 12-3 slot for 99.9 the Fan. That means a new afternoon show is being put together. It will feature Gold’s co-host Joe Ovies and former News & Observer writer Joe Giglio.
Giglio has been a sports writer in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area for the last 20 years covering both the North Carolina Tar Heels and the NC State Wolfpack. In addition to his radio duties, Giglio will make appearances on the Capitol Broadcasting owned NBC affiliate WRAL-TV.
“It’s not often that you have the unique opportunity to get better when moving an air personality of Adam Gold’s stature to another time slot and also add a sports reporting vet like Joe Giglio to an already established show, so we’re very fortunate,” Fan program director Dennis Glasgow said in a press release. “In the end our listeners are the big winners.”
