Bridgewater, Randolph Claim Wins Over Guilford Volleyball

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Guilford volleyball team returned to action after a seven-day break in the schedule and suffered a pair of setbacks to Bridgewater (25-13, 25-13, 25-17) and Randolph (16-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-23) when the three teams collided in Bridgewater on Saturday, April 17th.

BRIDGEWATER 3, GUILFORD 0

Five Eagles players tallied at least five kills while teammates Ashley Casey (12 digs) and Hope Jennings (11 digs) anchored the back row defense as Bridgewater earned its fifth win of the season and conference slate with a 25-13, 25-13, 25-17 victory over the Quakers in the first match of the afternoon.

Guilford (1-6, 0-6 ODAC) was led on offense by the trio of Hannah Stout (six kills), Kaitlyn Kelly (six) and Amanda Rabey (five). Bryce Smith was active on defense with 13 digs, while Adison Needham added two assisted blocks for the Quakers.

RANDOLPH 3, GUILFORD 1

The Randolph offense was highlighted by a 13-kill performance from Audrey Antesberger, who also added four assisted blocks and one solo block, to help the Wildcats earn a 16-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-23 victory. Lindsey Taylor led the way on the back row with 27 digs and was one of four players to notch double figure digs along with Kenleigh Hunter (15), Melody Washington (12) and Tom-Lauren McGinnis (10).

The Quakers were led offensively by the combination of Adison Needham (eight kills), Hannah Stout (seven) and Kaitlyn Kelley (seven). On defense, the play of Cydney Scott (21 digs), Bryce Smith (18), Stout (14) and Carson Evans (10) was tops. Khaira Bolden added four assisted blocks while Needham added two for the Quakers.

Guilford returns to the court on Thursday, April 22nd to face Lynchburg and concludes the season against Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday, April 25th.
