BODYARMOR State Games: First Weekend is in the Books!

WEEKEND ONE WRAP UP
?The 2021 BODYARMOR State Games summer events kicked off this weekend with Sand Volleyball, Sporting Clays, Track & Field and a Youth Baseball Qualifier taking place all over the Raleigh-Durham area.

All events had an awesome turnout, and we couldn’t have asked for a better start to the 2021 Games! Thank you to everyone who participated, and CONGRATULATIONS to all of our medal winners!

FEATURED ATHLETE – JAMIAN JOHNSON

Jamian Johnson, with Jacksonville Track Elite Club, won the silver medal in the 11-12 Boys Javelin Throw with a throw of 29.10 meters at this weekend’s BODYARMOR State Games Track & Field Meet.

“I was 10 when I started throwing the Javelin,” said Johnson.

The now 12-year-old encourages more kids his age to start throwing the Javelin.

“It is really fun to do, and it helps get your arm strength up for other sports like baseball, football, and basketball,” said Johnson. “It also makes you feel like a Spartan warrior, which is really cool.”

Johnson is a first-time BODYARMOR State Game participant. “My experience has been great so far,” said Johnson. “I’m definitely going to keep throwing. I’m already looking forward to coming back next year.”

Johnson also competed in the 100 and 200-Meter Dash where he placed 4th with a time of 13.97 and 5th with a time of 29.42.
