Wyndham Championship Fan Amenities Return; Triad’s Party of the Year Features Open-Air Fan Favorites

WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP FAN AMENITIES RETURN; TRIAD’S PARTY OF THE YEAR FEATURES OPEN-AIR FAN FAVORITES

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two years. Twenty-four months. One hundred and four weeks. Seven hundred and thirty days. Any way you quantify it, it’s been a long time since golf fans watched a PGA TOUR event at Sedgefield, and when the Wyndham Championship tees off in a few weeks, fans will be back and so will the free, open-air amenities that turn this tournament into the Triad’s Party of the Year. The 82nd annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 11-15, 2021 at Sedgefield Country Club.

It was August of 2019, and Hickory native J.T. Poston claimed the Sam Snead Cup and his first PGA TOUR title. He did it in front of family and a raucous crowd filled with Western Carolina Catamount fans cheering as one of the school’s favorite alumni became just the fifth North Carolina native to win the Wyndham.

Fast forward to 2020 when Jim Herman tied the PGA TOUR record for lowest weekend score by a tournament winner when he shot 61-63 for a weekend total of 124 and beat Billy Horschel by a shot. And the crowd went wild…or not. It was the only Wyndham ever played without fans, and it was, well, silent as Herman claimed his third PGA TOUR victory and hoisted the Sam Snead Cup.

The Wyndham returns to some semblance of normalcy next month when the TOUR comes back and so do the golf fans. Sedgefield will be silent no more. It’s time to Escape to the Wyndham and enjoy the tournament’s open-air fan amenities.

“We spend a lot of time thinking about the people who purchase grounds tickets,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. “Our goal is to make the Wyndham Championship experience just as good for someone who purchased a grounds ticket as it is for people in our corporate hospitality venues, and our fan amenities are all open air making them as safe as possible. The fan experience is a priority for us every year, and several of our tournament partners are incredibly helpful with this effort.”

After scanning digital tickets at the main entrance, fans will experience Expo Row and find themselves at Margaritaville at the Wyndham. It’s a popular place with live music every day and upscale food and beverages – it’s the center of the Triad’s Party of the Year.

For those who prefer a lovely cruise around the course, they’ll have plenty of open-air options to make that grounds ticket feel like a hospitality pass. They’ll see the Wyndham Rewards Points Paradise Pavilion at the putting green (details coming soon) and then find the Truist Fan Pavilion where patrons pack the place to watch PGA TOUR stars at the ninth green or maybe they’ll visit Tito’s Stillhouse there instead.

They’ll traverse Sedgefield’s rolling hills visiting the Wyndham Rewards Earner Card Club at 10 green (details coming soon) and public bleachers presented by Harris Teeter around the course. Later they’ll sip refreshments at the SunbrellaÒ Comfort Zone behind the 12th green and maybe enjoy an ice cream sandwich while shielded from the August sun by SunbrellaÒ umbrellas.

When they reach the “Sweet Spot,” holes 15 through 17 offering one of the best views on the entire PGA TOUR, maybe a respite at the Duke Energy Public Viewing Deck at the par-5 15th hole. From there, it’s a mere cut through behind the 16th tee to reach the SunbrellaÒ Wine Deck at 17 to sample Sangria or a wine slushy.

Pick your place or try ‘em all. The Triad’s Party of the Year is back – golf fans, get those digital tickets, bring the sunscreen and your Wyndham Rewards Visa because the Wyndham is cashless. Enjoy – You’ve earned this.
