Game Report on High School Football Scrimmages and Jamborees

Northeast Guilford at Southeast Guilford set for 6pm was Cancelled…No scrimmage tonight, at Southeast Guilford High School…

Northwest Guilford at WS Reagan was delayed due to lightning and rain, but they finally go going, and the NWG rookie QB, Tanner Ballou, a sophomore, ran one in for a Northwest Guilford touchdown…From what we are hearing, a very hard-hitting game tonight, over at WS Reagan…Hope to get more details on this one later on…

Dudley vs. the Mount Tabor Spartans, at Dudley HS….Dudley looked pretty good both running, and passing tonight, with senior Jahmier Slade at the controls, at quarterback, most of the night….Backup QB for Dudley, Savoi Edwards, was sharp, and the third-string QB(Domaine Vann), who is a freshman, and already has a college baseball offer to Miami, the #3 kid looked good too, with some nice long, tight spiral passes….Dudley is deep right now, at the quarterback position….

Dudley topped Mount Tabor, 20-6, and the Dudley Panthers wore out the Mallard Creek Mavericks, 28-0…..

In the receiving department, Dudley’s Mehki Wall was red-hot all night long, and nobody could stay with him/cover him…Wall made some very good receptions/catches, and part of what he did was just catching the football when it came to him, and then getting the separation he needed to get to the end zone…Wall will be a Dudley go-to man, every Dudley Panther game this season….

Versus Mount Tabor, Dudley came out on defense to begin the game, and the Dudley defense held the Mount Tabor Spartans, and Mount Tabor was forced to give up the ball on downs…When Dudley gets the ball, QB Slade goes to Edwards for five yards, then Slade throws an incomplete pass and Dudley runs the ball on fourth down and two, and Dudley gets the two yards for the first down…Slade completes a pass to Shannon Edwards and Dudley picks up six yards, for another Dudley first down…Next K.J. Morehead carries the ball 13 yards on the ground for a Dudley touchdown, and the two-point conversion fails, Dudley up, 6-0….

Second possession for Mount Tabor, and their QB gets sacked…After the sack, the Spartans come up with a big completion and Mount Tabor is on the move, with a first down…Mount Tabor gets hit with a big penalty, and Mount Tabor needs a big pass to keep their drive alive, and they get most of the needed yardage, and Mt. Tabor is facing fourth-and-one…On the fourth-and-one, MT gets the first down, but then they start going backwards…They have the ball first-and-goal at around the five-yard line, but the Dudley defense puts the clamps on them, and Mount Tabor gets pushed back to around the Dudley fifteen-yard line, the Mount Tabor QB gets sacked, and the Spartans scoring chances are gone….

Dudley gets the ball and gets a quick Jahmier Slade pass to Michael Shaw, but Shaw can’t hang on to the ball, and Dudley’s Slade decides it is time to hook up with Mehki Wall again, and Wall catches the Slade pass, and thirty-five yards for a touchdown…Dudley gets the two-point conversion run from Tyler Moore, and Dudley goes up 14-0, on Mount Tabor…

When Mount Tabor gets the ball back again, the Spartans go to their ground game and they get a big run/boost that sets up the Spartans at the Dudley twelve-yard line..From there, the MT QB makes a nice short shovel pass to his back, out of the backfield, and the RB takes the pass 12 yards up field, and into the end zone, for the Mount Tabor touchdown…MT gets the TD, but their two-point conversion pass play fails, and now your score reads, Dudley 14, Mount Tabor 6…..

Mount Tabor is trying to mount a comeback, but the Dudley Panthers will have no part of that….Dudley gets their running game working and with the help of R.J. Baker, the Dudley Panthers get a 26-yard run to set up a touchdown, and then Cory Jones takes the ball in from 4 yards out, to put Dudley on the board again….This time the Panthers’ two-point conversion fails, and now Dudley leads Mount Tabor, 20-0, and that would be the final score, for Dudley vs. Mount Tabor….Dudley 20, Mount Tabor 6…..

In the Dudley-Mallard Creek contest, Dudley got a quick-strike pass from Jahmier Slade to R.J. Baker, and the Dudley two-point conversion run was good by Michael Shaw..Dudley up on Mallard Creek, 8-0…Mehki Wall got a big-time run for Dudley, and Savoi Edwards makes the two-point conversion pass catch, and now Dudley is rolling over Mallard Creek, 16-0….Wall comes right back with another TD catch, and Dudley now is in front, 22-0…Dudley’s final TD comes on a touchdown run by their freshman quarterback Domaine Vann, as Vann runs into the promised land from around 10 yards out, and the two-point conversion run fails, making the final score, Dudley 28, Mallard Creek 0….

More on these games coming up later on….

  1. Dudley looks like a contender this season. I will be surprised if they don’t make it to the State Championship game in 3A.
