Saw and talked to several coaches out there at Smith tonight…Freddy Johnson from Greensboro Day School and his wife Mary Mar Johnson were there, Brett Hinson from Bethany Community School was there, Coach Thomas Griffis was there, and we talked with Mr. Taylor, Jamar, and others and Brian Hall from WFMY TV 2 Sports was there, along with Lauren Walsh from WXII TV 12….

  1. Freddy is at games like this to see the teams he might be facing at the HAECO Tournament…Always good to get in a chance to see teams you might be facing in the future when you have an off night…Freddy doesn’t need to recruit…Any talent that wants to come his way at Greensboro Day will come to him….With his record and his background in coaching, players want to play in his system, because they know it will prepare them for college…During games you see people stopping by to talk to Freddy, they know him and they know he knows basketball….He has right at 50 years of coaching experience, and the man knows the game, but he loves the game too, and is always ready to see and learn more about basketball….I don’t know how he keeps it going like he does, but he keeps right on doing the job, and doing it the right way….
