Reagan withstood a revived North Forsyth team enroute to a hard-fought 63-58 win in Pfafftown Wednesday night. The Raiders, who defeated NF 60-19 five days ago on the Vikings’ home floor, won their fourth game in five starts largely at the free throw line, converting 17 of 22 in the final period when North’s pressure forced the winners to the line repeatedly down the stretch.

Reagan rarely trailed in the game but never led by more than five in the first half, which closed at 23-22. The game remained tight throughout the third quarter but the Raiders opened up their largest lead of the game (46-37) three minutes into the final period on a sequence featuring three FGs by Caleb Ellison, two by Jalil Rogers & a stick-back by senior Jack Leonard.

But North began it’s comeback on a steal & dunk by Jamari Hauser & scoring from Justin Covington & Nasi Graham, neither of whom played in the NF loss at home to Reagan last Friday. The Vikings trailed 49-46 with 2:33 remaining but Reagan made 12 of 14 FTs down the stretch, six by Rogers and five by Ellison, to maintain at least a five-point margin over the visitors in the game’s closing seconds.

Rogers led Reagan in scoring with 21 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds while Ellison added 15. Sophomore Cooper Jackson contributed 7 points & matched Rogers’ on the boards with nine rebounds. Covington (22) & Graham (14), who both returned to the lineup for NF, combined for 36 points, ironically the difference in the point-spreads between the two Reagan wins over the Vikings this week.

Reagan opens Central Piedmont Conference play Friday night at East Forsyth, the first of three CPC games before Frank Spencer Tournament play begins December 20 at RJ Reynolds HS & at North Forsyth.
