High School Basketball Tonight(1/25/2022) Finals:Alex Taylor hits game-winning shot for Grimsley over NWG, 69-67, and more scores/Ragsdale girls over Page, 63-61(Double Overtime)

Finals:
Grimsley boys 69, Northwest Guilford 67
Grimsley(15-1/7-0)/NWG(9-6)
End of First Quarter:Grimsley 15, NWG 15…Halftime:NWG 36, Grimsley 31…End of Third Quarter:Grimsley 52, NWG 49…Final:Grimsley 69, NWG 67

Northwest Guilford scoring:Jaylen Cross 18 points, Conner Ballou 16, Jackson Hartzell 10, Sheldon Ulmer 8, Aiden Eller 6, Wyatt Harbaugh 5, Drew Watkins 4…
Jaylen Cross hitting three’s(4 of them) for NWG, and he was also taking the ball to the hole…Conner Ballou had some strong takes for the Vikings, but Grimsley would never fold…NWG tooks leads in this game, but again, Grimsley would never fold….Tyler Albright got into some foul trouble for the Whirlies, but he was able to finish the game…And finish Grimsley did…Alex Taylor hit his game-winning shot as time was running out/expiring, and on the last offensive sequence of the game, Grimsley did take a whole lot of time off of the clock, but the Whirlies made sure if they missed their last look at the basket, there would be no way for Northwest Guilford to get the ball for one more late-game possession…As it turned out, very good clock management by Grimsley…NWG never got a chance to get the ball back….I was thinking this game was going to overtime, and it might be like the NWG-Ragsdale game finish, but Grimsley made sure they got the stick-back, when Alex Taylor worked his magic on the very last shot/look of the game, and Alex Taylor was there with the Finish, and it turned out to be, “the shot of the game”…..

NWG(10-/4-3)/Grimsley(3-12/0-7)

More details and scores on the way….The NWG lead was cut to 31-28 in the third quarter, but NWG went on a 7-0 run to close the quarter…Madison Young was everywhere in this game for NWG…She was doing it on offense, on defense, and was hitting her three’s and free throws…Grimsley really had no answer for Madison Young, and Young did a very good job on Nadia VonReichbauer in the second half…VonReichbauer had 10 of her team-leading 17 points, in the first half of the game…Young is young, but she is growing up fast/quick…

  1. The thing that keeps Madison Young from Northwest Guilford going is her feet…She plays defense with her feet…Her feet are always moving it keeps her in the proper position to defend at all times…Play that defense with your feet, keep them moving…
