High School Basketball Tonight:Northern Guilford girls go to (22-0) while NG boys upset the Apple Cart with a Big Win at Grimsley(Helms with two huge plays for NG)

MORE SCORES ON THE WAY

The Northern Guilford boys beat Grimsley??? The Northern Guilford boys beat Grimsley??? The Northern Guilford boys beat Grimsley???
YES….(This one was a shocker to many in attendance.)
++++++You can listen back to both Northern Guilford-Grimsley games now on GreensboroSportsRadio.com…Girls and Boys games on GreensboroSports Radio

The final score was, NG 53, Grimsley 49…Big plays by the Nighthawks’ Jackson Helms down the stretch, with Helms hitting a three to give NG their first lead of the game(51-49) with just seconds remaining, and then on the other end of the court, while on defense, Helms drew a charge to give the ball back to Northern, and then Grimsley fouled Nolan Hodge, and he hit both ends of his one-and-one free throws, and Northern led Grimsley, 53-49 and Grimsley could not find any type of
miracle, and Northern Guilford comes into the Bob Sawyer Gym, and upsets the Whirlies on Senior Night…Grimsley recognizing seniors Tyler Albright, Jordan Wall, Jayden Watlington, Marshall Uber, and Peter Martinek-Jenne…(Congrats on a great career to those Whirlie seniors.)

If I was choosing a Player of the Game for Northern, I would split it between Jackson Helms and Nolan Hodge….And I am telling you, the back-to-back plays by Jackson Helms(the three-point shot, and drawing the charge) from Northern Guilford are two of the biggest plays, we will see this entire season…

  1. Cornerstone leading scorers:
    Josh McNair 28 pts
Cameron Milton 19 pts, 6 rebounds
Elijah Edwards 12 pts, 7 rebounds

  2. Dudley Boys couldn’t play the game against Eastern due to the NCHSAA Rules about playing only 22 regular season games. If Dudley had play played Eastern, it would have put them at 23 and a caused a Rules Violation and automatically kicked them out the playoffs. The AD at Dudley told me that at the JV Boys Game on Friday. He talked the NCHSAA about it and had to call off the game. The Christmas Tournament Games at the Coliseum almost cost them

  3. Perry, thank-you for clearing that up for us….Excellent work on your part…When people would see a 2-0 score for EG and a forfeit, that would not know what was going on…

    Thank-you….

The extra game against QEA/Quality Education Academy might have been an extra game that made a difference too…..

Hardly ever see a rule like this affecting a team’s season, but here you go….

Thanks again, Perry Saunders for getting the word up for us…
