WINSTON SALEM, N.C. — The High Point University men’s track and field team finished runner up at the 2022 Big South Indoor Championships with a total of 123. Campbell won with 141 points. A&T had 116 points in third place.

Mike Esposito: “Sometimes you just get beat, hats off to Campbell. A&T opened the door and Campbell barged through and we did not. Lot of positives but that was not what we went there for. I thought our women had a really good meet, but we got beat by a great team in A&T. It would’ve taken a great meet to beat them. Now let’s get ready for outdoors.”

Panther Particulars

In the heptathlon, HPU started championship Friday by finishing second, third, fifth, and sixth. Evan Mills was the top finisher in the Heptathlon for HPU with a second place 4590 points, Tucker Conine finished third with 4496 points, Stephen Binkley fifth with 4280 points, and Brandon Lewis with 4152 points for sixth.

Hocine Bouchrak finished fifth in the mile with a time of 4:09.97, Graham Ferguson finished eighth with a time of 4:17.25.

Terris Burton II finished fifth in the 400 with a time of 49.04, Bobby Dupell III finished 8th with a time of 50.45.

Deron Dudley finished fifth in the 60m with a time of 6.84.

Gabriel Ludwick finished the 800 in 1:52.75 placing fourth and Jonny House finished 1:54.13 sixth.

Paul Gore finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 21.74.

Chris Van Niekerk found himself again on the podium with a throw of 17.42m and finished third.

Hocine Bouchrak finished third in the 3000m with a time of 8:28.52.

The 4×400 relay team of Terris Burton II, Bobby Dupell III, Gabriel Ludwig, and Paul Gore finished fourth with a time of 3:18.35.

High Point Women Finish Runner Up at 2022 Big South Indoor Championships

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. — The High Point University women’s track and field team finished runner up at the 2022 Big South Indoor Championships with a total of 159. NC A&T scored an impressive 207 points. Hampton was a distant third with 96. Hannah Brookover was named the Big South Most Valuable Athlete. Brookover was second in the mile, first in the 3000m, and first in the 5000m. Sydney Horn earned the award for Most Outstanding Performance which goes to the athlete who recorded the highest mark or fastest time nationally in the meet. Horn earned it for her 4.42m performance yesterday. Alicia Dawson won another Big South individual title in the women’s triple jump.

Panther Particulars

The Panthers finished second, third, fourth, and sixth in the mile as Hannah Brookover finished second with a time of 4:52.44, Olive Allen was third with a time of 4:54.60, Sydney Bagus was fourth with a time of 5:04.03 and Franzi Jakobs was sixth with a time of 5:05.16.

Nyile Facey earned a third-place finish in 60m hurdles matching her prelim time of 8.47.

Abi Craig finished seventh in the 400m with a time of 57.74.

In the women’s 800 finals Camryn Harper finished second earning another podium finish for HPU with a time of 2:13.39.

In the 3000, three Panthers scored Brookover was first with a time of 9:51.52, Ashley Jones finished fourth with a time of 9:55.14 and Lindsey Ickes finished seventh with a time of 9:58.53.

Alicia Dawson finished the day for the Panthers on a high note as she won the triple jump on her last jump which was 12.45m. Jordan Pringle finished seventh with a jump of 11.67m.

The 4×400 relay team of Nyile Facey, Abi Craig, Nikki Frail, and Camryn Harper finished fourth with a time of 3:58.07.
