Panther Men Win Meet of Champions!
HPU Women’s results follows below.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University Track & Field finished in first place on the men’s side and took home the hardware in the debut of the Meet of Champions at Vert Stadium. One of the highlights for the Panther men this weekend was Hocine Bouchrak’s winning double performance in the 1500m and 800m runs. Bouchrak set personal bests of 3:47.41 and 1:52.08 in both events to take home those individual titles. Fellow Panther Jonny House also set a personal best time of 1:52.75 to finish in third place in the 800m run. One of the other highlights for the men was the performance of sprinter Deron Dudley. Dudley won the men’s 100m dash with a time of 10.32 and then followed that up with a time of 20.62 in the 200m dash to finish in second place. Dudley still holds the 22nd fastest time in the 100m dash in the NCAA East Region and his time of 20.62 currently sits in 15th place in the East Region.

Panther Particulars

Terris Burton won the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 52.50. Burton also came in fourth place in the men’s 110m hurdles with a time of 15.36. Jackson Blackburn and Trent Strachan finished with personal bests and finished in fifth and sixth respectively in the 110m hurdles.

Hunter Steinau won the men’s 5000m run with a personal best time of 14:34.32. Ian Miller finished in second place with a personal best of 14:36.48, while Spencer Smucker finished in third place.

Chris Van Niekerk won the men’s discus with a throw of 56.97m. Van Niekerk finished in third place in the men’s shotput with a throw of 17.80m. Always the workhorse, Van Niekerk set a personal best in the men’s hammer with a mark of 49.22m to finish in fifth.

Freddie Allen III won the men’s long jump with a mark of 7.31m.

Patrick finished in second place in the 3000m steeplechase with a personal best time of 9:25.51. Aiden Morrison, Jake Tarosky, and Stephen Gray finished in third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.

Larry Coaxum finished in third place in the triple jump with a mark of 14.07m.

Bobby Dupell III finished in fourth place in the 400m run with a time of 48.55.

Adam Craig finished in fifth place in the men’s pole vault clearing a mark of 4.56m.

Robbie Greer finished in sixth place in the men’s javelin with a season best mark of 59.37m.

Kolt Byers finished in sixth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.92m.

The High Point 4x400m relay team finished in second place with a time of 3:13.78, which was good enough to clinch the team title for the Panthers.

Dawson, Brookover, and Hester Star for Panthers in Meet of Champions

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University Track & Field finished in third place on the women’s side in the debut of the Meet of Champions at Vert Stadium. One of the highlights for the Panther women this weekend was Hannah Brookover who set a personal best and Vert Stadium facility record in the 1500m run with a time of 4:24.40. The time broke a record which had stood since 2018 set by Hannah Segrave of Great Britain of 4:26.55. Ashley Jones also set a personal best time of 4:29.74 and finished in third place in the event. Brookover also won the 800m run with a time of 2:09.05 to edge out fellow Panther Camryn Harper who finished second in the event with a time of 2:09.32.

Another highlight for the Panthers was Alicia Dawson who won the women’s long jump with a mark of 6.22m, currently ranked 12th in the NCAA East Region. Dawson’s mark just had an illegal wind, which prevented it from breaking the school record. Finally, freshman Dae’Nitra Hester broke the school record in the women’s 400m, which had stood since 2003, with a personal best time of 54.68. Abi Craig also set a personal best in the event with a time of 56.05.

Panther Particulars

Sydney Horn won the women’s pole vault and fellow Panther Rachel Vesper set a personal best with her clearance of 4.01m to finish in fifth place.

Ashley Jones won the women’s 5000m run and fellow Panthers Anna Ritter and Katie Taylor finished in second and fourth, respectively.

Nyile Facey finished in second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.43.

Letizia Marsico finished in third place in the shotput with a mark of 13.62m. Marsico also finished in seventh place in the discus.

Julia Newman finished in fifth place in the javelin with a personal best mark of 40.97m. Fellow Panther Kelly Chaballa finished in seventh with a personal best mark of 40.26m.

Lindsey Ickes finished with a personal best in the 1500m run with a time of 4:33.48.
