Final from McCormick Field, in Asheville, N.C.:
Asheville Tourists 8, Greensboro Grasshoppers 4
WP:Cesar Gomez(3-4)
LP:Jared Jones(2-3)
Hoppers(20-23)/Tourists(16-27)

Tourists' line:8-13-0
Hoppers' line: 4- 7-2

The Greensboro Grasshoppers could not find any offensive success until the later stages of this ball game….The Hoppers scored all four of their runs in the top of the ninth inning, but by that time, it was too late to get back in the baseball game…Asheville’s pitching was way too strong out of the gates, and Greensboro was held at bay early in the game, as Asheville’s pitcher, Cesar Gomez, had the Hoppers handcuffed in the beginning stages of this contest…

Cesar Gomez, got the starting pitching call for the Tourists, and he dealt for six innings which tied his career high. The right-hander struck out six of the first eight batters he faced and finished with a career best nine strikeouts on the night. Gomez limited the Grasshoppers to only two hits and did not let a Greensboro runner reach second base.

It was in the bottom of the eighth inning when Asheville blew the game open…The Tourists plated six runs in the bottom of the eighth. The Tourists’ Chad Stevens blasted a two-run Home Run to centerfield, A.J. Lee ripped an RBI single into left, and Quincy Hamilton hit a bases clearing single to give the Tourists an 8-0 lead.

Hoppers’ hitters:Endy Rodriguez 1-4/HR/3 RBI…Rodriguez with a three-run home run…Sammy Siani 2-3/Run…Hudson Head 1-4/Run/RBI…Yoyner Fajardo 1-4/Run…Jacob Gonzalez 1-4…Abrahan Gutierrez 1-4…The Greensboro Grasshoppers drew no walks, and the Hoppers struck out 13 times in this contest…

Solid start by the Grasshoppers’ opening pitcher Jared Jones, who started the game and went five innings, allowing 1 run, on six hits, with 1 BB, and 10 K’s…Jared Jones threw 84 pitches, and 55 of his pitches went for strikes…The Hoppers pitching staff struck out a whopping 16 Asheville Tourists on the evening, but Garrett Leonard and Eddy Yean combined to give up those six big runs by Asheville, as the Tourists had an outpouring of success, in their half of the eighth inning…

Time of Game-2:17
Attendance:3,422

The same two teams will meet on Sunday afternoon at 1:05pm, in Game Six of their weeklong series…Final game of the six-game stand, on Sunday, at McCormick Field, in Asheville, N.C.
