Texas led early in this game, 2-0, but East Carolina got hot and grabbed a 7-2 lead, highlighted the Pirates posting 5 runs in the top of the fifth inning…In that top of the fifth inning, ECU got a three-run home run from their RF Jacob Jenkins-Cowart(Southeast Guilford High School), as hit his 13th HR of the season, and drove in his 62nd, 63nd, and 64th runs of 2022…

Texas fought back, with two runs in the seventh, and four runs in the eighth inning to grab an 8-7 lead over the Pirates, but East Carolina posted a run the top of the ninth, to tie the game back up, at 8-8…
Then the walk-off single the by the Texas Longhorns’ Dylan Campbell, and that scored Texas’ Ivan Melendez, to give the ‘Horns the 9-8 victory, in the bottom of the ninth inning…
For the day/game, the former Southeast Guilford Falcon, and East Carolina Pirate true freshman, Jacob Jenkins-Cowart went 2-4/HR/BB/2 Runs/3 RBI…JJC was called out at the plate in the top of the seventh inning, as he attempted to score on a Wild Pitch, but he was ruled out at the plate by the home plate umpire, but then the NCAA reversed the call after a video review at the NCAA Baseball Tournament offices, in Pittsburgh, PA and Jenkins-Cowart, and ECU were awarded the run…..NCAA replay showed JJC, from ECU, was safe at home…
