Gonzalez got the first two Renegade batters he faced and then he gave up a double to Trey Sweeney, and that was followed up by a two-run homer from Everson Pereira…This was Pereira’s second home run of the game, as he also had a solo blast to right field, back in the first inning, to put his team up, 1-0…The Renegades would go on to win the contest, 11-9 after posting three big runs, in the top of the tenth inning… Pereira goes 3-5/2 HR’/4 RBI for the night…This guy was tough…
The Hoppers walked 6 times and struck out 8 times, and they left seven men on base…The Grasshoppers were 4-13, with Runners in Scoring Position….
Quinn Priester got the start for Greensboro, and he is on a rehab stint, working his was back up the ladder, and probably headed up toward the Altoona Curve, in the Pirates system…Another rehab effort was turned by the Hoppers’ Jeffrey Passantino…Priester worked two and two-thirds innings, and Passantio went for an inning, and a-third…Priester gave up 5 five runs on six hits, with one walk and three strikeouts…Priester also gave up the solo home run, to the Renegades’ Pereira…Passantino with 0 runs/0 hits/2 K’s…
The Grasshoppers drop the game in extra innings, and it almost seems juvenile to sit here and go on about how hard it was to stomach this loss, but it almost seems sort of criminal to let this game slip away, from the Win column…You hate it for the home team, and to win the opening game of this series would have big huge, but now the Hoppers must fight back, and find a way to get the win, on Wednesday night…
