East head coach is entering his 15th season as head football coach at Wake Forest High where he has compiled a career record of 159-24 in 14 seasons and his teams have won 9 conference titles and made 14 playoff appearances, including reaching the finals 6 times and winning 3 state championships…9 times named Conference Coach of the Year…named 2016 NC AP Coach of the Year…served as an assistant coach in the 2016 Army All American Bowl, the 2017 NCCA East West All-Star Game, and in the 2019 Shrine Bowl…recipient of the 2010 Carolina Panthers Coaches Award… 2019 guest speaker at the Raleigh Sports Club…born in Raleigh, NC…1989 graduate of Wake Forest High where he was named All-Conference in football, basketball, and baseball…1994 graduate of Lenoir Rhyne University…2002 graduate of Saint Augustine College…says “This is an honor and I’m very proud to represent Wake Forest HS and the eastern part of North Carolina as the head coach in this special game. Brian Batchelor
East assistant coach is entering his second season as head coach at Southern Nash High where he has complied a career record of 9-2 in two seasons and made 1 playoff appearance…previously served as an assistant coach at Southern Nash, including stints as the defensive coordinator from 2002 to 2007 and the offensive coordinator from 2008 to 2020…also served as the track coach at Southern Nash for 16 years…born in Nashville, NC…1997 graduate of Southern Nash where he competed in football, basketball, and track, and was named All-Conference in football and track and was named the Player of the Year in football his senior year…played in the 1997 NCCA East-West All-Star football game…2001 graduate of the College of William and Mary where he played football…says “I am extremely honored to coach in this game.”

Chris Hall
East assistant coach is entering his 30th season as an assistant football coach at Cape Fear High where his teams went 164-150 in 29 seasons, won 1 conference title, and made 16 state playoff appearances, including reaching the 2016 state championship game…recipient of the 2015 CFHS Leon Brock Spirit Award…previously coached baseball, football, and girls track at Anne Chesnutt Middle School and started the JV baseball program at Cape Fear High in 1994, serving as JV baseball head coach for 24 years and as an assistant coach for the Cape Fear High School 1994 3A state championship baseball team…born in Raleigh, NC…1988 graduate of Cape Fear High where he competed in football and golf…1994 graduate of Fayetteville State University…says “I am very humbled and honored to be selected to coach in this year’s NCCA East-West All-Star Game and to represent Cape Fear High School. I give all thanks to the Lord for blessing me with my abilities and opportunities to help influence others through my coaching career. East assistant coach is entering his third season as the head coach at Laney High where his teams have gone 11-8 in two seasons…has compiled a career record of 116-71 in 15 seasons and his teams have won 3 conference titles and made 13 state playoff appearances…three times named Waccamaw Conference Coach of the Year…previously served as an assistant football and baseball coach at West Brunswick High and Whiteville High and as the head football coach at South Stanly High, Whiteville High, and Freedom High…born in Lumberton, NC…1996 graduate of West Stanly where he played football and was twice named All-State in baseball…played in the 1996 NCCA East-West All-Star football game…2001 graduate of Appalachian State University…says “I am very excited and honored to coach in this game. To have the chance to work with some of the best coaches and players in this state will be a great experience.”

Andy Tew
East assistant coach is entering his 8th season as the head coach at South Central High where he has compiled a career record of 37 – 35 in 7 seasons…his teams have won 1 conference title and made 3 state playoff appearances…twice named All-Area Coach of the Year…previously coached football and softball at J.H. Rose High, basketball and track at Havelock High, and currently also coaches track at South Central High where he has won a track conference title and coached state champions in the 100m, 200m and 4×200…born in Raleigh, NC…1995 graduate of Farmville Central where he competed in football, and was named All-Conference and All-Area, and track and field, where he was named All-Conference, All-Region, and was a state qualifier in the shot put…2002 graduate of East Carolina University…says “It is a great honor to represent eastern North Carolina in the 2022 NCCA East-West All-Star game. I am grateful to my peers and the association for allowing me this opportunity. I am looking forward to working with other great coaches from the East. It will be an amazing learning opportunity. East assistant coach is entering his 6th season as the head coach at Richmond Senior High where he has gone 45-11 in 5 seasons…has compiled a career record of 87-45 in 11 seasons and his teams have won 6 conference titles and made 10 state playoff appearances…5 times named Conference Coach of the Year…named Homer Thompson Memorial Eight Who Make a Difference and Fayetteville 40 Under 40…previously served as the strength and conditioning coach at Athens Academy (GA), as football coach at Loganville High, as a football and track coach at Apalachee High, as a football and baseball coach at Terry Sanford High, and as football and track coach at Cape Fear High…born in Tallahassee, FL…1996 graduate of Franklin County High (GA) where he played baseball and was named All-Area in football…earned a baseball scholarship to Emmanuel College…2001 graduate of the University of Georgia…2006 Master of Science in Education from the University of Georgia…says of being selected to coach in the all-star game: “It is a tremendous honor and I really appreciate the recognition of my peers to have this opportunity.”

West head coach is entering his 7th season as the head football coach at Grimsley High where his teams have gone 48-23 in 6 seasons…he has posted a career record of 143-66 in 17 seasons and his teams have won 6 conference titles and made 14 state playoff appearances, including winning a state championship in 2020-2021…6 times named Conference Coach of the Year….named 2008 News & Record All-Area Coach of the Year…participated as an assistant coach in the 2013 NC Shrine Bowl…member of NCFCA Board of Directors from 2012 to 2016…previously served as a football coach at Southern Guilford High, first as an assistant and then as the head coach…also served as an assistant baseball and basketball coach at Southern Guilford…born in Greensboro, NC…1996 graduate of Southern Guilford High where he played basketball and was named All-Conference in football and baseball…2000 graduate of Gardner-Webb University…earned his MA in Physical Education from East Carolina University in 2010…says “To be selected to coach in the NCCA East-West All-Star football game is a huge honor. I grew up in Greensboro, watching this game and understanding the importance it played in kicking off the upcoming high school football season each year. I heard about the experience my Granddad had as an assistant coach in this game back in 1972. The rich tradition of the East-West game makes it one of the most unique all-star games in the country. I look forward to working with this coaching staff and the players we have selected to represent the West. It’s also a privilege to be able to represent my coaching staff and players at Grimsley in this game. West assistant coach is entering his 6th season as the head coach at Mount Tabor High where he has posted a career record of 45-18 in 5 seasons…his teams have won 4 conference titles and made 4 state playoff appearances, including winning the 2020-2021 3AA state championship…4 times named Conference Coach of the Year…also named Winston-Salem Coach of the Year and Game of Inches Coach of the Year…previously served as an assistant football coach and head wrestling coach at Mount Tabor High…named 2017 Co-Coach of the Year in wrestling…born in Richmond County, NC…1999 graduate of Mount Tabor High where he was named All-Conference and second team All-Northwest in football and finished second in the state in wrestling…2004 graduate of Cumberland University…says “This is a great honor to coach in the NCCA East-West All-Star football game. I have watched this game for many years, and I am very excited to be a part of this great tradition.”

Randall Gusler
West assistant coach is entering his 17th season as the head coach at Statesville High where his teams have gone 129-71 in 16 seasons…he has compiled a career record of 132-79 in 17 seasons and his teams have won 5 conference titles and made 13 state playoff appearances…4 times named Conference Coach of the Year…previously coached at Arcadia High (VA), and served as the head coach at West Lincoln High and as an assistant at Statesville High before becoming the head coach in 2006…born in Radford, VA…1986 graduate of Pulaski County High (VA) where he was named All-Conference and second team All-State in football…1990 graduate of Emory and Henry College…says of coaching in the all-star game: “This is a true honor after all these years coaching. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity.”

West assistant coach is entering his 11th season as head coach at Ashe County High where his teams have gone 59-45 in 10 seasons…he has compiled a career record of 75-70 in 13 seasons and his teams have won 5 conference titles and made 9 playoff appearances….named 2010 Northwest 2A Conference Coach of the Year…3 times named Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Coach of the Year…twice named Husky Coach of the Year…previously served as an assistant coach at Chowan College, Emory and Henry College, and Alleghany High, and as head coach at North Surry High…has also served as an assistant baseball coach at Emory and Henry College and as a JV men’s and women’s basketball coach at Alleghany High…born in Boone, NC…1992 graduate of Beaver Creek High where he was named All-Conference in basketball and football and twice named All-Conference in baseball…1996 graduate of Emory and Henry College…2019 MA in Educational Leadership from Queens University…says “I am truly humbled to be asked to coach in the all-star game. West assistant coach is entering his 37 season as an assistant coach at Reidsville Senior High where his teams have gone 81-5 in 36 seasons…has complied a career record of 364-110 in 38 seasons…4 times named Outstanding Assistant Coach by Central Office…previously served as track coach and currently serves as the head wrestling coach at Reidsville Senior High…also coached football at George Washington High (VA) and football and track at Northern Vance High…has coached numerous state qualifiers in wrestling and track, including a state high jump champion…born in Henderson, NC…1981 graduate of Vance Senior High where he was named All-Conference in track and All-State (3-times) and team captain in football…also played in the 1981 North-South All-Star game in 1981…1986 graduate of Elon University…2007 Masters of Health and Physical Education at NC A&T State University…says “It is truly an honor to be selected to coach in this historic all-star game that has seen some of the best coaches in North Carolina. West assistant coach is entering his 3rd season as head coach at Mooresville High where his teams have gone 8-11 in 2 seasons…has compiled a career record of 79-37 in 10 seasons and his teams have won 2 conference titles and made 9 state playoff appearances…twice named Conference Coach of the Year…named 2013 Rowan County Coach of the Year…previously coached at North Rowan High and West Rowan High…born in Clayton, NC…1999 graduate of Clayton High where he played football and baseball…2003 graduate of Catawba College…says “I am very humbled and honored to be selected to coach in such a storied all-star event. This selection is due to the fact I have been blessed to coach great young men over the years and to serve on coaching staffs with other great coaches.”
